and to be fucking pissed off that taxpayers money will be used to 'compensate' this pond life.

Do not believe for one minute that they are all completely innocent people picked up at random by the security forces.

Feel that it they had even the slightest inclination to repeat 9/11 or 7/7 they deserve a good slapping and more. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you .

Rant over. Am feeling highly irritated today so bring it on!!

yes cory don't forget Simudzai Mureza wedu WeZimbabwe (Zimbabwean national anthem) - that president has made some absolutely cracking decisions and rulings in recent years

Christ on a bike did I accidentally log onto the Fox News website?!

My sister was arrested once as a teenager as she was wearing the same jacket as similar aged girl who had committed a crime nearby. Two policeman dragged her out of the tube station in front of hundreds of people and threw her in a cell. She was released a couple of hours later when she was shown to the victim who confirmed my sister wasn't the attacker.

My sister was humiliated and over 15 years later is still upset by it as she is a quiet soul. I'm not saying that this is equivalent to torture but what if the police were allowed to torture suspects and they tortured her to get a confession before they found out it wasn't her?

People who scream about getting rid of human rights laws are often too stupid to realise that they are also protected by those laws. Give the authorities the right to torture terror suspects and you have also given them the right to torture you or your loved ones for any crime they are accused of. Some people are happy to cut their nose of to spite their face if it means they get one over the Muslims or other 'foreigners'. They think because they are white and live in nice areas they cold never get caught up with the police...but if BigMomma's husband was suspected of being a peado and she knew he wasn't she would be screaming 'human rights' to high heaven if he was being tortured for a confession.

I am not normally rude but I must say that I feel very sorry for BigMomma's almost 4 children if she spouts uneducated, bigoted crap such as 'bite the hand that feeds them'. Who feeds these suspects, anglo's and BigMomma? Do 'non-indigenous' people not work and pay taxes?

'Toxic' and 'Hit me baby one more Time'

Squitten · 07/07/2010 11:55

It's all very well not to give a crap about those poor people when they have nothing whatsoever to do with you.

You might get more interested when it's YOU sitting in that room with those torturers, or better yet one of YOUR kids being accused of something they have not done.

Torture is abhorrent under any circumstances and the information that it produces is worthless. If we claim to be "civilised" then we should act like it.

pagwatch · 07/07/2010 12:05

Stop talking to the OP.

She is still supposed to be sitting on the naughty step thinking very hard about how stupid she is being

she will need a while yet.

donnie · 07/07/2010 12:11

oh dear. I would venture a sensible opposition to the OP's post but what is the point? clearly she agrees with torturing people who are just suspects and not even charged with an offence so that tells me all I need to know about her!

But - OP do you not know that torture frequently leads to innocent people confessing to crimes they have not committed ? are you ok with this?

scanty · 07/07/2010 12:28

reading the OP I thought like everyone else WTF? Then thinking about it further at what point would you cross the line? All hypothetical but what if there was a big attack planned and suspects possibly held info that could save many lives and the clock was ticking? What if someone had abducted and hidden your child and the 'suspect' sat there grinning at you or the police? Extreme yes, but it does pose some interesting moral questions as to what it would take to tip you over the edge. I am against torturing and indefinately locking up suspects but think we would all do it in certain circumstances.

camaleon · 07/07/2010 12:39

Scanty,
I have just left a comment above with a REAL case about the child kidnapping scenario. What we would all do is irrelevant. If someone harms my children I would probably like to harm them back. If someone kidnaps my child or many terrible things I can think of I know very well what I would want to do. But this is not the society we have decided to live in, is it? It is even worse... You are asking those people who are meant 'to protect you' to do what you would feel like doing to some people in the heat of the moment. Sounds like a terrible scenario to me.

scanty · 07/07/2010 12:44

camaleon - I agree with you, that is not the society I would want to live in but I would still do it or support the police if it was my child in danger. You say you would like to or want to - would you take that step or not? Hard to answer of course as it's all hypothetical.

funnysinthegarden · 07/07/2010 12:45

all this innocent until proved guilty nonsense, torture them until they confess I say

cory · 07/07/2010 12:47

I have been suspected of abusing my own child. I expect if I had been tortured for long enough, I might well have ended up believing I had done something I hadn't. Would this in any way have kept her safer?

camaleon · 07/07/2010 12:48

Scanty,
In my particular case, which is probably irrelevant here, I would try to do any harm possible. But I expect to be stopped from doing it. This is what I expect from enforcement officers, not to be perpetrators themselves of our thirst of violence and revenge.

sanielle · 07/07/2010 12:48

YABATA
You are being a total arse

cory · 07/07/2010 12:54

But scanty, it is well known that innocent torture victims lie, they make false confessions. How would it make your baby safer if someone told the police they had already murdered him or hidden him in a place where he wasn't, thus distracting any police searches that might have found him in the right place with the real perpetrator? False confessions do slow police work down. They are bad things.

Actually toture does work.. Remember all those witches they found in Salem?

Never would have admitted it otherwise. Sneaky witches

Spidermama · 07/07/2010 13:04

BigMoma I agree with whoever it was who said you are embarrassing yourself. If I were you I would be mortified to have written this and deeply disturbed and in need of professional help if I actually thought this way.

You would even be laughed out of the Daily Mail offices for these views.
