Normally said when the person is being funny as in bitchy. A real filler.

arf at dress in green and prance around clover

FindingMyMojo · 07/07/2010 12:06

Don't get me wrong, but to be perfectly honest I'm not being funny. Do you know what I mean?

all trite & annoying

runnybottom · 07/07/2010 12:15

We prance around shamrocks, not clover. And I'm wearing green pyjamas, does that count?

Agree with the "tuned around" poster, does my head in..."so she turns around to me and says...then I turns around to her and says, then he turns around..."......I feel like saying why don't ye all sit down and shut the fuck up!

Druzhok · 07/07/2010 12:31

Can we discuss that 'ye', runny?

runnybottom · 07/07/2010 14:28

It just slipped out druz, I can't help it!

It's soooo hard not to say any of them though! I work in an office full of women (mainly nice women, as offices go!) and I find myself using most of these horrors. One day I decided to stop and was virtually mute, so started again. It is hideous though, hopefully maternity leave will cure me - I don't say any of them to the baby, though now I am high pitched and enthusiastic about almost everything and find myself making up songs about what I'm doing whether I have a baby-shaped audience or not

melikalikimaka · 08/07/2010 23:07

And do you know what, she turned round and said Blah, blah, blah, and I turned round and said I'm not being funny but.....

melikalikimaka · 08/07/2010 23:13

I hear what your'e saying, I'll take it on board and I'll sharpen my pencil! I love that one!!!

Vallhala · 08/07/2010 23:15

You made me grin. My father and I have been estranged for about 3 years now and many of the memories I have of him are negative ones caused by this.

When I read your OP, his voice came flooding back with good associations for once. At the close of every phone call he would say (to my S-sister as well as to me), "I'm not being funny, but I'm going to put the phone down now and sort meself out", as he was ready to prepare for bed.

So, I'm not being funny, but I rather like, "I'm not being funny but...".
