to think that DH is well out of order?

"D"H doesn't seem to think so and in response to DD's question "why does my tummy button stick out?" he replied "It should be in. It's ugly". This is about the fourth or fifth time the subject has come up and each time he makes a massive issue out of it, in front of the children.

Both DCs have outies and I have never given it a second thought. AIBU to think this is insensitive twattishness and wonder why I married him?? He has behaved like a total arse all day, also.

Yes its a bit rough, and the kind of thing that might give them a mini-complex about it.

Stuff like that can stay with you for years.

Gigantaur · 04/07/2010 21:20

he is a twat.

he is creating an issue out of nothing. that could be a big deal as they grow older.

nancydrewrocks · 04/07/2010 21:21

yep he's a twat.

BessieBoots · 04/07/2010 21:21

Nobhead.

Shock
JimmyTarbuck · 04/07/2010 21:21

He is well out of order.

stripeywoollenhat · 04/07/2010 21:22

yep, twat. yanbu.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 04/07/2010 21:22

Yep, well out of order. Which of his body parts could be deemed 'ugly'? It seems only fair that he should be on the receiving end of some of his own advice from you and the DCs.

Men. Pah.

Harimo · 04/07/2010 21:22

Sorry, but your DH is TOTALLY out of order.

I let my DH off with murder, but I'd go mental if he ever told my children they were anything less than PERFECT.

CoronaAndLime · 04/07/2010 21:22

Cock-sucker.

GeekOfTheWeek · 04/07/2010 21:22

Prick.

AnyFucker · 04/07/2010 21:23

making kids feel there is something weird about themselves is waaaaay outta line

what an inadequate tosser

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/07/2010 21:23

He is being an arsehole.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 04/07/2010 21:23

No. He is being unreasonable and quite cruel and thoughtless.

He is doing the right thing if his aim is to make his children feel bad about an aspect of their bodies and perhaps develop a complex when they are older.

Never underestimate the damage cruel or thoughtless words from a parent can do to a child. We have a duty to be as careful as possible!

Alouiseg · 04/07/2010 21:26

He'll have to go.

EndangeredSpecies · 04/07/2010 21:27

Was sure IWNBU, thanks all for confirming! Trouble is I have told him each time basically what Hecate said, seems like it goes in one ear and out the other.

AnyFucker · 04/07/2010 21:27

murder him

HecateQueenOfWitches · 04/07/2010 21:29

show him the thread?

Flisspaps · 04/07/2010 21:29

YANBU.

Tell your daughter DH is jealous, he's always wanted an outie of his own

FakePlasticTrees · 04/07/2010 21:29

I agree with Alouiseg.

secunda · 04/07/2010 21:32

why would anyone say something like that to their child? Let's be honest though, she's not going to leave him over it

WillowM2B · 04/07/2010 21:34

He's right though.

Outie's are vile and make me shudder.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 04/07/2010 21:34

Because he's being an arsey, know-it-all bloke, that's why. No, probably best not to leave him over it unless he's a twat generally, but a kick up his backside and some deep-heat spray in his pants might not go amiss.

AnyFucker · 04/07/2010 21:35

willow ?
