This morning I was looking forward to a nice sausage and bacon sandwich but w w sliced bread just dropped in bits, it was all air and no substance
Perhaps I should just use a T cake next time and bugger the diet

I know, I've tried it once and thought the same. They've cut out the calories by replacing half the bread with air! It's rubbish.

southeastastra · 04/07/2010 20:14

nimble was like that

diamondsandtiaras · 04/07/2010 20:14

just use normal bread!! or have sausage and bacon without the sandwich? Surely there isn't much difference between ww bread and normal bread calorie-wise?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 04/07/2010 20:19

have normal bread but have grilled sausage and those turkey slices or low fat bacon thingies.

Or forget bread altogether and grill a sausage, a slice of low fat bacon / turkey and some tomatoes.

TheMoonOnAStick · 04/07/2010 20:19

It makes good toast though cos it goes quite dry and crispy.

I quite like Nimble and ww bread, but I'm not too bothered about bread anyway. I often find it heavy and stodgy.

MaudofallHopefulness · 04/07/2010 20:24

Nimble mings, as does WW bread. I'd never use them again.

I've done weight watchers many times over the years and I've just come to the conclusion that weight watchers stuff is minging and you're better off watching your portion sizes and eating proper food. At least normal bread fills you up, you have to eat half a loaf of Nimble type stuff to stop you being hungry.

tethersend · 04/07/2010 20:26

YABU to have had any expectations in the first place.

BAFE · 04/07/2010 20:28

YANBU

Bread is made from flour, yeast, water, sugar and salt.

there isn't really anything you can remove from that list to make it less fattening. So they just make the slices smaller, or add air.

It's silly.

Bread is good for you, just eat less of it but choose a really nice one. Treat yourself to a fancy loaf once a week.

I really really hate all diet products and refuse to buy anything marked low fat, reduced sugar etc.

We all need to learn to enjoy real food in moderation, not kid ourselves we're being "good" by eating wholly unsatisfying artificial rubbish. TBH in a sausage and bacon sarnie (with butter?) I don't think the bread is the biggest issue and if you're going to have it you may as well enjoy it and do it right.

The diet industry in this country (and the US) is huge and it has grown over a period where we are (on average) all getting fatter.

I read an article recently where the advice for a healthy diet (and weight) was never to eat anything your Great Great Grandmother wouldn't have recognised as food. Also that you can have as many treats as you like, as long as you cook them from scratch yourself. (ie you'll eat much less of them if you have to do more than open the packet) Seemed good advice to me and is the principle my Mum has always followed - still in her 60's is perfect size 10. Never deprived herself, loves good food cooked with care, wouldn't dream of eating any process meal (or sliced bread)

Sorry, got on my bandwagon a bit there, but I'm not at all surprised WW bread bears no resemblance to actual bread.

gintastic · 02/07/2013 21:46

I'm doing weight watchers and have reluctantly come to the conclusion that I have to stop eating bread. Probably forever. Just because 1 slice is never enough Hmm and neither was 1 loaf, which is why I'm doing WW in the first place!

Seriously though, try wraps? 3PP per wrap and you can stuff it with loads of yummy stuff :-)

Thepursuitofhappiness · 02/07/2013 21:52

Eurgh weight watchers bagels are terrible too.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 02/07/2013 21:52

I like your bandwagon there lisbey - it's exactly how I feel about these things. Diet bread - it's a contradiction in terms! Make some decent bread - if you can be bothered make some proper sourdough. Easier to digest, 100% natural and not full of preservatives and shite.
I'll get off the soapbox now because this is probably not what this thread is about and I really don't want to start as I get a bit passionate about food!

LuisSuarezTeeth · 02/07/2013 22:02

Zombie Fred...

greensmoothiegoddess · 02/07/2013 22:06

Try the Hovis small size loaf...in a sort of orangey / brown bag. It has the same calories but tastes like proper bread!
