we have a County Centenary Celebration with Brownies (I am an adult leader) with all the girls re-newing their promises at 20.10 on 20th October. This is a school night and we will be 30mins drive away from the venue (plus time to get home in undoubtedly bad traffic).
What time do your 7 - 10 year old kids go to bed on a school night and AIBU to suggest to parents that their children will be home so late on a school night? (Am pregnant with first so have no idea about bed times - brownies questioned loftily suggested that 10pm was their usual school-night bedtime - yeah right!)

I wouldn't mind but others might.

DS2 (7) - goes to bed normally around 8 and reads for a bit.
DS1 (9) - usually about 9-9:30 with encouragement - but he doesn't seem to need alot of sleep.

It wouldn't bother me on such a special occasion but i find that not all mums are as laid back, whether it's because they are just strict or because their children do literally drop off asleep at 7, no matter where they are, i don't know...

sorry - i should also point out that we won't be organising a coach (would cost £8 per child!) so the parents would be expected to drop the kids off and wait during the ceremony and then take home again and a lot of the brownies have younger siblings

I might play it safe either go for a weekend or a earlier time .

I think the 20:10 / 20th/10th 2010 must have some significance, though, Slushy

jobhuntersrus · 02/07/2010 17:46

As a one off I would be ok with it.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/07/2010 18:58

It wouldn't bother me but I expect there might be a few who don't want to come.
