I'm inclined to, because I think he was arsey, but I might be overreacting.

My house is set sideways on to the road, so me and my next door neighbour share a driveway to get to our garages and back yards, but because it's not fronting onto the road it maybe doesn't register to everyone that it's private (though I would have thought that the presence of garages might have been a bit of a giveaway).

Came home tonight about half six, and there's a large van parked across my garage door and gate. He didn't show any sign of moving, so I went and tapped on his window and asked him to move so I could get in because he was parked outside my house and was blocking access. He says "yes, I've just delivered you a catalogue, I'll move in a minute". I asked what was wrong with him moving now, because otherwise I'd have to leave the car on the road and come back for it later. He moved (grudgingly, and made sure he passed within millimetres of my car) and I drove in.

Got out of my car and headed to the house, to find that he's followed me (as in, he's pulled up the van, got out and is now following me towards my gate) and said "Oi, why are you so shirty with me". Told him I wasn't being shirty, I just wanted to park on my own drive when I got home, and that it was private land. He then went away and drove off.

Now, I wasn't in fact being shirty. I can be a lot arsier than that, but AIBU to not expect lip from someone who (a) I've not invited onto my drive and (b) is in my way and refusing to move?

Sorry, wasn't entirely clear there - would I be unreasonable to make a complaint to his employer. Didn't want the pigging catalogue in any event.

Hmm, dunno if I'd bother. He's an arsehole & he knows where you live.

RuthieCohen · 01/07/2010 18:54

not unreasonable, but wouldn't you rather just let it go, have a glass of wine and forget about it? There are many bigger twats than him in the world.

What catalogue company? I think I'd have to complain.

GerbilMeasles · 01/07/2010 19:03

It's a Littlewoods catalogue - DD got hassled when she was in town to sign up for receiving it, apparently. She doesn't want it, I don't want it, it'll get left in the porch till I put it in the recycling bin.

Not really annoyed about the catalogue, or about him parking there initially. Just about being pursued by him so he could have a go at me. Yes, I know I'm a lucky person if that's all I've got to worry about. Am mildly annoyed and think he needs to get pulled up on his attitude.

And am also inclined to think that if it'd been a big hairy bloke asking him to move, he would have just done it without all the lip.
