"Inbox me".

Really? I've seen this several times in the last day or so and it makes me cringe. Have I been out of the real world for too long and not noticed this become a widely accepted replacement for "send me an email"?

I hate it, it sounds rubbish.

IABU?

punch them. Then say "Oh I thought you said 'box me', terribly sorry old bean."

Dont say it to anyone or they might shag you and say "oh sorry old bean I thought you said come in my box"

Sorry that was quite dreadful as jokes go

MrsGokWan · 29/06/2010 12:19

I thought it meant that the person wanted some one to send them a message on the Facebook PM system

BottleOfRum · 29/06/2010 12:19

I think its a facebook thing, where you want someone to send you a private message, not write on your wall.

You can't really say "email me", because the person isn't technically sending you an email.

You can't really say "send me a private message" because you sound like a wannabe spy.

So "inbox me", although gramatically foul, seems to be the best option I'm afraid!!

bintofbohemia · 29/06/2010 12:24

Aaaaaaah, I see, BoR. Eurgh. Still rubbish though!

I always just say PM me (provate message). YANBU about inbox me though......makes no sense!!

MrsC2010 · 29/06/2010 12:45

I've never heard that before...YANBU!

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 29/06/2010 12:52

It sounds rude to me like shag me rude. i dotn use facebook though.

TheFruitWhisperer · 29/06/2010 13:13

I see this mostly on FB when someone has written a grumpy status aimed at someone. Friends ask 'Whats up' and get 'Inbox me' as a typical response.

In other words, Inbox me = 'Im brave enough to make a vague dig at someone, but not brave enough to go into detail!'

SloanyPony · 29/06/2010 14:15

See I'd just say "message me" or "email me on facebook"

MissHitchens · 29/06/2010 18:15

I'd say 'message me', too. Inbox me sounds like 'f me please'

usualsuspect · 29/06/2010 18:18

Its a facebook thing ...means send me a private message ...same as saying cat me on here
