to think that it is immoral to spend £315000 on a weeks holiday?

I watched Peter Andre the other night and was curious about the hotel he stayed in so googled it. One week in September for a family of four staying in the same type of suite as him costs £315000.
Ok abit of me might be jealous of the mega rich, but I would hope that if I was ever in that position I wouldn't waste money like this.

Very unlikely they'd pay the commercial rate especially if they knew it was being featured on tv in UK. The producers obviously made sure viewers would know where it was, with any careful product placement of corporate branded items in the background by any chance ? Such series are glorified advertorials, be it for the individuals or products and services featured.

RiojaLover75 · 26/06/2010 14:56

Morloth where did you go for your £5000? Did you take kids?

LynetteScavo · 26/06/2010 14:56

stripeyknickers, I need to change my money were you do when I visit.

jenroy29 · 26/06/2010 14:57

I'm not envious, I could stay there in a normal room happily, just think that some people waste the money that they have.
Sorry for the mistake about the actual cost of the hotel.
Peter pointed out to his children a few times through the show how lucky they were to get such luxuries.

You think he's wasting his money, he doesn't

I think the parents who send their children to the crappy private school down the road, when there is an "Ofsted outstanding" state school a few hundred meters down the road are wasting their money, but they don't.

Morloth · 26/06/2010 15:05

Disneyland LA Rioja, we only had DS1 and obviously took him. Had a blast, did Disney, Universal, Seaworld, stayed at the Grand Californian and went shopping.

Was awesome.

We are lucky enough to be wealthy and don't really spend up to our means normally both being raised to be quite tight. On holidays though we like to go crazy.

Morloth · 26/06/2010 15:06

Have started the separate fund for Disneyworld for a few years time with DS1 and DS2 (got to wait for him to be tall enough).

I like Disney.

muggglewump · 26/06/2010 15:08

Course it's not immoral, it's his money and he can spend it how he likes, besides I like to watch his show and seeing him staying in Pontins in Blackpool wouldn't be quite so much fun.

I like to gawp at the expensive things

jenroy29 · 26/06/2010 15:11

I suppose they did go to Centre Parcs in the past so they do deserve a bit of an upgrade

No, not immoral. Besides which, most people, especially celebrities, rarely pay the rack rate. May even have been a freebie, given the publicity generated by featuring the hotel in a tv programme...

jenroy29 · 26/06/2010 15:13

I wonder how easy it would be to pretend you were making a TV program.

Morloth · 26/06/2010 15:16

For proper freebies you would probably a production company to organise it all or be an extremely well known celebrity already and you could maybe rock up with a video camera.

However hotels would usually want some sort of contract so that they are not shown in anything other than a positive light.

firsttimemum77 · 26/06/2010 15:17

Yabu - money is to spend. If I had that kind of money I would enjoy spending it and all the luxuries I could have with it! He is mega rich so can obviously afford to stay in a mega expensive hotel.

We spend on average (3 of us) about £2,500 on a weeks holiday (depending on where we go). If I didn't have that money to spend I wouldn't. To someone who hasn't got that much to spend then £2,500 would be
a huge sum.

End of the day you only live once, enjoy it! And as long as you are not living beyond your means it's all good!

BrandyAlexander · 26/06/2010 15:19

If he can afford it (assuming he paid full price), I don't see it as a waste as he is just spending according to his income levels. I happily spend £10k on holidays, its not £60k like him but its more than the average. We can afford it, earned the money legally and arent hurting anyone. I dont think it makes DH and I immoral. Nor do I think Peter Andre is immoral for spending his money. Nor are the Beckhams are immoral for spending £1m for a few weeks holiday in South Africa. They can afford that, I can't.

rollerbaby · 26/06/2010 15:30

Don t be daft, celebs like that dont pay for anything, I doubt v much he has that kind of money. Everything is negotiated by agent and included in some kind of pr deal. Its bollocks.

Why the fuck youd want to go there is beyond me.

LynetteScavo · 26/06/2010 15:40

Well, I want to go.

scottishmummy · 26/06/2010 15:53

Morloth · 26/06/2010 16:36

I want to go to Atlantis but don't think I can behave myself enough not to get thrown into prison in Dubai.

muggglewump · 26/06/2010 16:40

There's one in the Bahamas. I know as DD has a crap Mary Kate and Ashley video set there.

Morloth · 26/06/2010 16:43

mugglewump your first sentence excited me and then your second one ruined it all.

muggglewump · 26/06/2010 16:47

I don't think they live there Morloth, just made a shite film there.
It's most likely Mary Kate and Ashley free!

Morloth · 26/06/2010 16:49

You think they could run a sweep for me before hand? Just to be sure? Should also catch any other annoying B list celebrities who try too hard?

muggglewump · 26/06/2010 16:53

If you're paying what PA got free paid, I bet they'd do it, and even remove any lower class types people you didn't like the look of

FabIsGettingFit · 26/06/2010 16:55

What has it got to do with you?

YABU.

Morloth · 26/06/2010 16:55

Lower class could be a problem as I suspect we are considered "New Money" by most people, so would in fact have to have ourselves removed for not meeting own standards. Is a catch 22.
