To think that €80 for school books for a FOUR year old is a bit much.

Just a rant really, I know we're all in the same boat but for God's sake!!. DD is starting school in September, got her book list yesterday. Got all her books (exactly €79) and further €65 for her uniform today.

Havent got school bag, school shoes etc yet.

€20 for photocopying to school for the year and €20 for arts and crafts for the year.

Probably the norm for most of you and well used to this, but forgive my being so naive - shes my first to start school so I never realised before.

Feeling really sorry for all of those with more than one to send to school this year - not to mention the older children. Bit shocked really!!! blah..

Effin hell.
My DD is only a baby so have a few years yet to save up for Low Babies.

(Hi from The Wesht)

Spark, you can't say Low Babies and High Babies any more. Makes the High Babies sound like they're doing drugs!

NeverPushWhenItSaysPull · 01/07/2010 20:46

Bought the uniform today. €37.50 for a tracksuit w/crest and polo shirt w/crest. He looks ridiculous in it (you could fit at least 2 of him in it widthways). I outfitted him for the summer including sandals for less.

My DSis told me she spent €240 on schoolbooks today for her 2 girls (aged 7 and 9).

I think it's time DS got a paper round so he can contribute

Aw Low Babies is really sweet.

SparkOfSense · 02/07/2010 00:03

my dad lives in ireland and the costs are ridiculous, yanbu!

TulipsInTheSunshine · 02/07/2010 17:42

dp still calls them low and high babies.

their in one room her so generally just get referred to as 'The Infants' which makes them sound like a baby indie band

dd and ds1 will be in 'The Infants' room together.... pity the teacher

TulipsInTheSunshine · 02/07/2010 17:59

they're & here ... sorry

KnickKnack · 02/07/2010 22:31

we call them low and high infants

all the kids get very irate if you dare be so wrong...it must be junior and senior infants!

and breaktime was always wee lunchtime and big lunchtime (no idea what they call it now though?)

chipmonkey · 02/07/2010 23:09

Little Break and Big Break ( as in Big Break that every new band is looking for)

TulipsInTheSunshine · 04/07/2010 14:41

Big Lunch and and Little Lunch here

We bought the uniforms yesterday, still missing a few bits as there must have been an horde of mothers of 4 year old boys looking for navy uniform before me but still spent 90 euros. Shoes for both of them were 37 euros and that was at 70% off. They still both need runners though and i doubt i'll be lucky enough to find 2 sales that good!

Still haven't even ordered the books as my credit card is maxed out
