Massive drink of water

Do complete body relaxation - relax every muscle in your body, every tiny muscle in your face and neck.

YABVU - the vibrations caused by a serated blade will aggravate your pain. Try a very sharp straight blade.

I find a strong coffee can help but usually sumatriptan.

Very, very strong coffee

PriamFarrl · 08/11/2022 22:06

I imagine the intervening 12 years might have solved the problem.

Just some ideas:

Try squeezing your ear (or fitting a clip-on earring) until you find a place which works. The daith or rook might work best. If it hurts, you might find it eases the head pain.

Another idea: get a tennis ball and lie on the floor. Move the ball underneath your shoulders slowly, pressing into it. Find a place and press slowly and hold, then ease off. If you're lucky, you might find a place which again, probably hurts (in a good way), and pressing it eases the pain in the head.

Have something cold and sweet to eat/drink, eg ice cream or a cold fruit smoothie. (Ginger might help with nausea.)

Ice pack on the back of the neck or behind the ear.

A cold footbath. You could add some Epsom salts.

Dodie66 · 08/11/2022 22:36

Cocodamol and caffiene. The doc told me that the caffiene helps the pills work better.

Being pregnant was the only time I ever had migraines. Aura’s, nausea, skull crushing agony, the works! Never had the them before or since. Crazy how hormones can have such polar opposite effects on people.

I never really understood how awful they were until then. The only thing I could do was lie in a dark room with an ice pack on my head. Not really much help, OP, I know. You have my sympathies.

Orders76 · 08/11/2022 23:04

My GP only recommended solpadeine/ codeine for my migraines. After a while I had to wean off those as became immune. Sorry to hike, but of the treatments mentioned are any ok long term and you don't get used to?

OhMaria2 · 08/11/2022 23:14

Eat a banana and drink a whole glass of water, I cleared a visual migraine doing that. And I reeeally didn't think it would work when I read it. But it helped quite quickly.

itsnotmeitisactuallyyou · 08/11/2022 23:19

Rub Vicks into your migraine area ,tie your head with a scarf ,lie down in a dark room and try to sleep,This is the only thing that works for me.Careful of getting the Vicks near your eyes.

Orders76 · 08/11/2022 23:21

Will try those tricks. It's both pain and visual/ kaleidoscope.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 08/11/2022 23:22

Dunk your face in a bowl of ice water a few times. This helps me when sumatriptan doesn't.
