Is there anyone out there who'd look forward to doing the weekly shop on their own with a 2 1/2 year old and a 12 month old?

I do the weekly hop on my own with said DC each week and I really don't look forward to / enjoy it. Apparently this is unreasonable

Am I, in fact, BU?

Am a SAHM if that is relevant. Off to do the shopping now, will check back later.

I cant see anywhere that someone has mentioned it, but if you know the layout of the store (ish)...Make a visual (pictures and words) list for the older one that includes one item from each aisle. then give them the list. Make it usual stuff so you can reuse it! They then have to track down these items for you. Making it one per aisle means that you dont run out of things to find or find all the things together, therby having them lose interest. (obviously dont let on that it is one per aisle!!)

I did this for my two ( then 3 and 2) and it really took - I even tailored it to things they like..for eg, the then 2 yr old likes cucumbers and chilli, but the 3 yr old didnt, so they got out on the 3 yr olds list and I then put other stuff on the 3 yr olds list.

actually i find that of the all the houseworky type jobs, the shopping is at least one that the DCs (now 4.0 and 21mths) are not undoing as i am doing it. it easier to do that than clean the bathrooms, vacuum, cook etc with them in tow.
so i really don't think i can use my precious child free time for shopping. i'd rather take them with me adn use them for something else.
sometimes its ok, other times it is hideous. mostly it's ok.
