I just had a couple of days without DH, as he had a business trip. I started on anti-depressants last week so I was pretty worried about coping with the DCs on my own.

But I did! And actually did more housework than I normally would. Had a couple of visitors (my dad and some friends) which really helped.

Maybe IABU - sorry if I am, I know loads of people cope with being on their own a lot more - just to me, it's quite an achievement that I didn't crumble and end up sobbing down the phone to DH!

oh good for you!do you think you will have more confidence in yourself next time you are on your own with them since you managed so well this time?

You should be bloody proud of yourself .

frangipan · 23/06/2010 09:46

Brilliant, and congratulate yourself in anyway you see fit. I used to panic if I was on my own with the DC but actually, when DH is not here to add to the chaos , the DC seem to be calmer and get on better, and I feel like I am in control of the house more...don't know why though.
I think it will give you some confidence in yourself and that may help with your depression. (have been depressed quite recently but I am no longer on antidepressants) So go ahead and be proud of yourself x

Good for you, just goes to show what you CAN do when you put your mind to it

MathsMadMummy · 23/06/2010 09:46

aw thanks

well DH doesn't have to go away too often thankfully, but I won't be so worried next time I think. the ADs seem to be working anyway!

Well done! I'd be proud too and there's no point comparing to others - it was scary to you and you did it. Just wanted to say that anti-depressants usually take a couple of weeks to take effect so actually you did that all on your own without their help.

deaddei · 23/06/2010 10:03

Hooray!!!
Well done.
I do find life a tad easier without dh on occasion....

diamondsandtiaras · 23/06/2010 10:33

well done!! I know how hard it can be and how daunting to have DCs on your own.

Agree that it's often easier without DHs........one less kid to look after

annh · 23/06/2010 10:35

Well done you! Don't know what ages your children are but I used to hate when dh went abroad when ours were little - and I wasn't even struggling with depression!

MmeLindt · 23/06/2010 10:35

YANBU, well done. I know that it can be scary to be alone with the DC. Good on you.

FranSanDisco · 23/06/2010 10:45

Really well done .

MathsMadMummy · 23/06/2010 11:05

DCs are 3 (tomorrow!) and 10 months.

actually the big deal was that I played proper games with DD which I'm to say I've been struggling with.

DH has taken the rest of the week off as time owing which is good.
