Sorry to start/add to the slew of sports day posts, but have just heard news that a little chap very dear to me just came first in his running race after a spectacular sprint finish but was NOT given first prize because the kid who came second had 'been in the lead most of the way'.

Errr, WTF?! Grrrrr.

And I'm not even his mother...

pagwatch at the booing parents.

When I were a lass, a similar thing happened to me (was denied the cup because I had 'won lots already'). Still rankles 22 yrs later.

seeker - sorry, more of a Grauniad reader, myself. Or Viz. Now there's one of the last liberal publications left...

Loving the idea of my Daily Hate alter ego, though.

Maybe she's in Scotland?
Our schools finish the week after next so sports days are happening now. Ours was Monday.

'still rankles 22 years later'

Not that I'm a bitter and twisted old cow, though

Our school's sports day has already been.

I don't think we live in an alternate troll-filled universe.

DS had his sports day yesterday. The school told us about it Monday night (they'd 'forgotten' to send out the letters when they broke up for half term). Luckily DH wasn't starting work till 11am and went along. He sent me some gorgeous pics of DS in the sack race.

We had sports day yesterday and are in England......it was truly lovely, but maybe it was because it was foundation years. Watched DD and DS2 fling themselves round without a care in the world and other parents cheering on other children in their child's class was heartwarming. I am hoping it will continue throughout the rest of the school....however having a 14 year old DS1 I am pretty much aware it wont!

Our sports day is Saturday.
