I took my DS to our local country park today which has a great, safe play area, loos, cafe etc.

I was really disgusted to watch two different mums allow their children to wee in the play area. The kids were about 3 years old.

The loos were open and are right next to the play area. One let her son pee against a big tree stump the kids climb on and another helped her daughter squat on a grass play area.

Am i a total prude for being so shocked at this? I am potty training DS and I know kids can decide they need to go 'right now'! But I carry a travel potty for emergencies and at this park the loos are right next to the play area.

Loads of money was spent to stop the dogs from messing in the play area and I am just surprised that some patents felt that human mess is any better!

YANBU at all. I HATE people allowing their children to wee (or worse!) outside. I do accept that there may be occasional emergencies, but to do it next to a public toilet, and a clean, new one at that is vile.

I have managed to bring up three boys without ever needing to let them wee outside, so it is doable.

The other day we were out walking along a street my dd said that she needed a wee, before i could do anything she weed herself and said 'oh wee wee' . I the first time i forgot the travel potty. She went just before we left so she must have had a bit left over. I would rather she wet than me pull her pants down in the street and go there (no loos nearby). As she is training i do carry several spare clothing so no biggy. I just find a discret place to change her or behind the buggy.

When I came out of Wilkinsons you could see the two trickles of wee in the doorway area, it was disgusting. I very nearly went and told the sop security but chickened out. They were two little boys aged around 2-3 by the look of it.

I guess I'm also in the minority here - obviously a shop doorway or bang in middle of play area is disgusting but next to a tree in a park seems fine to me. I really object to the 'what if a paedophile is watching' line of thought. Go down that route, and before you know it you'll be stopping your kids playing naked in the garden paddling pool in case someone peeks over the fence.

a sort of friend of mine lets her 7 year old boy wee in the play park (bark on the floor). I was mortified, but a stupid tw*t and did not voice my opinion. i know that she lets her son wee in their garden and one day her 5 yr old DD was here and suddenly whipped down her knickers and squatted on the grass!!! fortunately i caught her in time and sent her to the loo.

it is unnecessary, lazy and dirty just to let children wee wherever they want to (emergencies aside).

i don't like DS going to their house anymore, in case he lands up running around in the garden without shoes on [barf]
