To f*cking HATE the 'no touch' soap dispenser product that they are constantly advertising at the moment?

Your hands are dirty...then you touch your soap dispenser. Did you know your soap dispenser is covered in hundreds of bacteria ? (implication... that could destroy your health/children's health etc) - use our no touch dispenser or you don't really love your family.

So let me get this straight, in my house it goes like this:

  1. hands get dirty
  2. touch soap dispenser (with dirty hands)
  3. wash hands
  4. dry hands

Why would you be touching the soap dispenser unless you were about to wash your hands anyway?
Just another wretched product to make us paranoid about the filth that lurks, ready to strike at any time,in any corner of our homes. Isn't there enough of this crap on the market already? Obviously I won't be buying one but no doubt many already paranoid people will. What a waste of money.

YANBU - I had a similar rant about the same ad to DH last night...

lizziemun · 17/06/2010 19:40

YANBU.

I have visions of the people who buys all these 'kill all germs' spraying, wiping anything and everything that moves, while drinking thier pre/probiotic youghat with its "germs" .

mrspear · 17/06/2010 19:45

Oh thank God i am not alone .... i swear i just want to throw something at the TV when this comes on - i mean what is the f*ing point!

And breathe

PotPourri · 17/06/2010 19:48

I agree. Totally stupid product

flootshoot · 17/06/2010 19:50

I sometimes do surveys online and had to do one about that dettol advert 'some bacteria can live in lava' etc. The were gleaning public opinion before screening it and when they asked for my opinion I wrote that it was far too overly dramatic and scaremongering. They still show it though -obviously I am not the all powerful advertising guru I thought I was...

Oh god, I was sat with my six year old dd yesterday when this came on and she said "But it doesn't matter if there are germs on the top because you will wash them off anyway."

She was spot on so why don't the goons that get paid thousands of pounds to make this shit up think of it.

varicoseveined · 17/06/2010 20:58

YADNBU! When I saw this ad on telly for the first time the other day I was like WTH then immediately thought of MN

saggyhairyarse · 17/06/2010 21:25

It is such a load of shite, I seriously hope no one falls for the ads, the product bombs and they lose loads of money by developing this product and inflicting it on the public.
