The beast is finished apart from a name.

My acknowledgements read:

This pile o shite would not have been possible without constant spport from DH, DD1 and DD2. I promise never to do it again.

With thanks to my mates, in particular Mr Gordon and Ernst and Julio.

Should I?

Which beast is that? If it is a thesis YANBU. My dh's last one acknowledged his course tutors, me, the dog and Mr Boddingtons.

pumperspumpkin · 16/06/2010 08:59

I've no idea what beast it is either, but I'd take out the "pile o shite" because whatever it is, people read the acknowledgements first and you'll colour their view. Leave in the alcohol though!

EveWasFramed10 · 16/06/2010 09:04

My beast due in September...leave in the alcohol...leave out pile o'shite...I fully intend to thank all the makers of Sauvignon Blanc for their services...

libelulle · 16/06/2010 09:56

If it is a thesis, calling it a 'pile'o'shite' on effectively the first page is probably not best way of getting examiners on board But the rest is fine...

IamBatman · 16/06/2010 10:11

is this a book you're talking about?

IamBatman · 16/06/2010 10:12

Just thank the booze

weetabixwhiner · 16/06/2010 10:22

Be gracious, give them proper credit and leave out the shite fgs.

AlCrowley · 16/06/2010 10:23

I would leave out 'pile o shite'.

It belittles the support your family have given you if the finish result is rubbish. Almost as if, had they helped you a bit more, it'd have been better IYSWIM?

The Mr Gordon and Ernst and Julio bit is good though

Poledra · 16/06/2010 10:26

Agree with all the others re the 'pile o shite' bit (though it did make me giggle). Rest of it is fine.

Mate of mine acknowledged the 'help' of his 2-yo DD in getting up one night and teaching him of the need to save his work frequently (as she deleted about 2 hours work by accident......)
