Okay, so our cat is lovely don't get me wrong, she's been with us for 3 years before DS was born. She has recently increased her quota of birds/small creatures/presents for us, which I think she is now counting DS as another person whom would appreciate these gifts.

She has just brought in a HUGE spider which she deposited in the living room, seeing me leg it out the door with DS giggling at my departure! What do I do?, AIBU? should I ban her from the house whilst DS is up or get some therapy for my arachnaphobia before DS picks up on it?

I was going to suggest a bell on the collar, but I don't know if spiders hear?

Get this book - I've been reading it to DD since she was born & it's kind of rubbed off on me!

Thanks Downdog! Will try the book, not too sure about the bell as she doesn't have a collar (got stuck in a tree once, so she has her own issues )

Aww no I think you should tackle your phobia, you cat is just showing how much he cares! It might be that he just needs a bit more stimulation so I would get some interactive cat toys so your dc can play with the kitty!

The solution here is to get a lockable cat flap.

Our lovely cats liked bringing in mice - one cat used to eat them and leave the skeletons under rugs for us to find and the other one would catch them alive but be unable to kill them. We would have to rescue them and on one occasion a mouse escaped and lived in the cleaning cupboard for a good few weeks until we caught it and took it to its new home in the park

If you arrange the cat flap so the cat can go out but can't come back in it won't be able to bring you presents. Ours wait by the front door meowing if they want to come in.
