...to be a bit annoyed with DD's school for this...?

DD's class are going on school camp from this Friday for the weekend - returning home next Monday afternoon. I have just received a letter from school which contains details of the kit list and timings etc, but also tells me that her class are then not in school next Tuesday...because they will have been at camp all weekend . Which now means I have to rearrange my work day etc etc. Now I'm sorry, I accept that DD may be a bit grumpy and tired after her weekend away, but AIBU unreasonable to think that it does not actually a warrant a 'recovery' day away from school...?! Whatever happened to coping with real-life...?! The class teacher is not going - the children are going with the head, LSA and parent-helpers.

Is it difficult to get a residential trip booking ? Our school seems to manage it every year for each year grouup - something called booking 'well in advance '!

I'm sure the school would be quick to complain if all the scouts/ guides were off on the monday after a weekend camp "to recover". And it's just the same in terms of (lack of) sleep and activities.

Schools tend to book the same week or few days every year and re-book it a year in advance. Which means if you want to change your dates it can be difficult if the camp is a popular one.

YANBU - Why do they need a recovery day? It's the final term, all assessments have been done and teachers are report writing, so it doesn't matter if the children have a less than productive Tuesday (no marking for them in the evening). I can't believe they've only just told you too. Totally out of order!
