is DP being unreasonable about my hair?

This is the reverse of the usual argument, I think!

I used to have really long hair, but recently got it cut to above my shoulders. DP really liked the new cut, said it looked more sophisticated. I liked it too, but think I am going to grow it out a bit (NOT as long as before). When I mentioned it, he was all 'oh no, don't'. When I asked why, he said I would look like a primary school teacher! (wtf?) Now he's saying, 'are you going to get your hair cut soon?' and has also hinted that soon I will be 'too old' for long hair (I'm 27).

I'm thinking, sod you, an am going to grow it anyway, but can feel the waves of disapproval. AIBU?

DW had her hair cut into a short bob at 27. I loved it. She looked very chic and sopisticated. I have always wanted her to have it again. She is 47 now and I has it just above the shoulder. Its nice and it is her choice. However, I do agree with your DH that long hair below the shoulder line can be a bit girly above a certain age.

TBH, I think your DH is paying you a compliment and likes the change in look because he is seeing you in a new light.

DW has thick curly hair too like you.

I'm not above a certain age though, am I beta? Am I?? [pleading eyes]

He is generally good - offers compliments a lot but only the negative stuff if asked. But sometimes I feel that he's got quite high standards (which luckily I have so far always fitted). I like that he feels he can give an opinion I guess.

I think there is a certain age where a woman turns from a 'twenty something girl about town' into a 'sohisticated woman' and I think your DH has just noticed that happened to you and he likes it.

I suggest you revel in the moment.

healthy hair above the shoulders whihc has been well cut sits nicely

that is probably the effect he likes

my dh likes a bob too (which I don't have at the moment)

lowenergylightbulb · 13/06/2010 22:09

I have thick, curly elbow length hair. I'm 40-ahem and it looks (IMHO) really nice. With my hair if it is shorter than shoulder length it goes all Brian May. I had it shorter in my twenties and I looked more middle aged then than I do now.
