People on here are always saying things like 'karma will get him' re cheating spouse, bitch colleague, bloke who nicked your car.

Really?

I can sort of understand it as a way to comfort someone, but as a concept it doesn't really hold water, does it?

I believe:

You choose the sort of life you will have before you are born and choose the people who you will come into contact with and the expereinces you will have in order to learn lessons and to help other people learn certain lessons so that you can develop and progress.

We have many, many lives sometimes repeating similar experiences just so that we 'get' the lesson. We may have wronged a certain person in a previous life or done some ill-deed and will have to come back again and again until we learn to right this wrong. This is the Karma that I believe in. The same applies to doing a good deed. It will come back to you.

So what doesn't seem fair in this life may be due to a lesson you are being taught and it may help to ask yourself why you are expreincing what you are expereincing. What an you learn from it? Look at the bigger picture.

Unpleasent people who appear to have a good life may have had a traumatic childhood, or may have a horrible home life, or may be depressed or ill. You don't know. The image they present to the world may not be the whole image so you can't compare your life to theirs and feel it's unfair when you don't know the whole story. Maybe they have had lots of shitty lives before and are just having a break with this life.

Not Karma but...

'You reap what you sew'

Or

'What goes around comes around'

They're my fave phrases when talking about nobbers. Totally believe it too, if you treat people badly then one day you're going to pick on another arsehole and

'get your comeuppance'

And when people are lovely or do me a favour then I 'owe you one' and return it when/ how I can.

HanBanan - most of those phrases/sentiments are the essence of karma!

Seriously there are some people who get away with it they have nothing bad happen to them whilst causing problems to others. Also there are good people in the world that no matter what they do constantly having shit happen to them.

Don't believe in karma at all.

I don't believe people ultimately get what they deserve.

...unless they're talking about the next life or something - but I don't believe in that either!
