To think my 11 month old shd be strapped into his buggy?

My DH keeps going off with him with the straps undone. I re-strapped him before they headed off, pointing out that the babe could slip out/under/bang his head and was greeted with a sarcastic 'Thanks for the horror story' before they went out of the door. I am being too fussy? Too health-and-safety conscious? Looking on the dark side? Possible, as am knackered. But hate sarcasm.

YANBU at all. I made the mistake of taking my 11 month old to the baby change at lunch with only the waist straps on, and she wriggled out and was trying to get to the tap while I was setting up - could easily have ended up on the floor head first if I hadn't had an eye on her. Never making that mistake again.

Leeloo1, I haven't had a Loola (surprisingly!) But out of curiosity are there no D rings on the harness? If there were it would be easier to use a set of reigns to strap in the child in...

KickArseQueen Sorry, no longer have it, so can't check... maybe there were, although I don't remember any but I was pretty annoyed that a buggy that is meant to last til they're 4 didn't fit a 10 month old! His head was also close to touching the sun shade bit too.

Its a shame because in many ways it was great when he was v small (faces both ways, easy to push, easy to fold, good brakes, pram & maxi-cosi attachments) but just not big enough to last.

I now have a Phil and Teds, which is not as well designed (hard to use brakes, hard to fold, ineffective sun shade, only faces 1 way) but looks like it'll last him for a good few years...

If you are using the P&T as a double get yourself one of these you can hook 2 of the bobbles on the elasticated loops on the back of the front seat and it shades the rear seat.

Works surprisingly well

DS2 has fallen out of the pushchair. banged his head and had a huge huge bump. that didn't go away for ages. in fact one graze is still minorly there.
so ashamed.
i was so pre-occupied with telling ds1 off , in the park, i picked up ds2, put him in the buggy, turned round and told ds1 off again, and then stormed off pushing buggy, telling ds1 to get move on. ds2 fell out. so ashamed.

DP has forgotten to strap DS1 into the buggy once and only realised when he did the classic hitting the curb and DS1 went flying out. Luckily it was onto the pavement from the road rather than the other way around and he wasn't hurt too badly, though very upset - as was I!

More horrifyingly though my sister saw an accident where a lady had not strapped her child into the buggy and then taken the buggy down escalators (dangerous anyway)and the child fell out - I don't think my sister ever found out what happened to the child but she said that it didn't look good.

oblomov, shit happens, stop hitting yourself over the head with it, we all make mistakes, we all change our risk assesment criteria when we learn new stuff.

Lets face it you're never going to do it again. Accidents happen, no-ones perfect.
