To be panicking the party entertainer won't turn up?

I mean, what if he doesn't?

What do I do with 20 5 year olds for 2 hours?

The whole point of haveing an entertainer is that I don't have to entertain.

But what if he is struck by lightening on the way to the party or something?

pass the balloon, sleeping lions, musical chairs, musical bumps, dancing like a loony... eat food....simon says, corners, dance like a loon again.. home time

at our parties everyone gets a party bag as they arrive with their name on it that they fill with crap prizes to take home

If you haven't paid him yet he's got every reason to turn up! It's what I do for a living too. In fact about to get changed to go and entertain some 5 years olds in a min.....

Seriously though in 15 years of doing this I have NEVER let anyone down. Dragged myself out of sick bed when necessary too. I always allow far too much time so any traffic hitches aren't a problem.

I know a few other entertainers and we all motivated by not wanting to let anyone down. It's our reputation after all.

Fingers crossed

Thanks for the reasurance, 2old4thislark.

I haven't paid him yet, and he's not cheap.

Can I ask what makes a party easy for the entertainer? Any thing I should/shouldn't do?

lol -this thread title just panicked me into phoning the sport centre hosting DS's birthday to double-check they had got us booked in.

Oooh Lynette there's a long list........on my website........

The biggest one being keep the distractions down to a minimum. ie no chatting adults, free range toddlers, toys , balloons on the floor etc. Children are great at watching a show but obviously are easily distracted.
Entertainment usually best indoors - but not a sunny conservatory.

That's the brief version! Hope it goes well for you!

Thank you.....

DD had asked for balloons to be on the floor, but I'll bin that idea.

Thats wehy we phone the parent a week before to check details and the actual party host calls a few days beforehand as well just to reassure!

Biggest thing is no chatting adults or much younger children creating a disturbance/distracting the party children. Also making sure older children (maybe an older sibling) doesn't dominate the party games too much.

NanKid · 12/06/2010 17:01

He won't be. they charge e-bloody-nough don't they? he will be there! And if he does get run over by a bus on the way there, stick some music on and do musical chairs/bumps/statues (can be 'judged' safely from a comfy chair with a glass of wine in hand ).

SeaTrek · 12/06/2010 18:20

I think we all have that worry! I know I did!

If he doesn't turn up the children will simply play - they don't need entertaining!

I have never heard of this happening to anyone though.

Wandaaa · 12/06/2010 19:36

Wait until they all go home and you convince yourself that you've poisoned them all with the party food. I had to send DP to nursery with DD after her 4th birthday party as I thought there would be a long line of angry parents and even a policeman or 2 to send me to prison (I'm not joking). I have another story about her 5th party but I don't want to disturb you, or perhaps it is me who is disturbed. I also hired entertainers for both parties and a caterer for her 5th!
