To be very sceptical about the 'Your Baby can Read' program?

My MIL has suggested that I buy this for my 7 month old son. Obviously I want to do the best for my son but I am just not sure if this is the best way for him to learn to read, whole word approach rather than phonics, watching TV for half an hour a day and large portions of his day dedicated to this system. However my MIL thinks I am being unreasonable and should pay the £150 for the program.

Would appreciate your opinions/experience, thanks!

Afterv2 years I think you need to start a new one, OP's DC is no longer a baby.

this is the sort of bollocks which appeals to first time parents desperate to prove their perfect child is cleverer hothouse their offspring. I've got three kids. My eldest is twelve. She didn't say a single word till she was 3 years old and she wasn't reading or writing or understanding words until she was 5/6. She's now gifted and talented with English, Top Set, extremely articulate. And all without any pushy Mothering from me.

Hi,
Yeah I posted that on 4 boards, cos I spent ages trawling through these looking for some facts rather than just opinions. If those links had been on here I would have saved myself some time.
Not sure why me posting them on 4 boards makes them any less valid?
