to want ds2 to stay at home again today? DH is really pissed off with me :o(

ok so ds2 had a rash yesterday on his chest/back, which looked a bit like a rubella rash, and a swollen gland

so although he didn't seem ill I kept him off school and took the day off work

this morning dh took him to the doctor - if he needed to be off again, dh was going to work from home so I could go to work

apparently the nurse said he could go to school

she also said he is on the tail end of a viral infection and his ear was a bit inflamed

I checked his rash when they got home and there are new patches on his back, but his chest looks better

so now dh and I are in a cold war - I think he is only 5 and could use another day at home resting - I don't want him to go to school with a rash/inflamed ear because 1) he will be exhausted and 2) all the other kids will have brought their germs after half term

dh thinks he should go to school because he hasn't got a temp and the nurse said he could go to school

I think dh is thinking about himself having to miss work

dh thinks I am being ridiculous

that's a bit unfair activate

I did want the advice and it did inform my discussion with dh - the fact that we decided to keep him off is no slur on the advice given

do you never ask for advice and then make your own decision? I asked for advice, not instructions

Greensleeves, fwiw I think you did the right thing. Totally a judgement call for yourself and your dh.

Theres no harm in a five year old having a "just to be sure" extra day off. When they are really well you can tell because they don't want to stay off!!

I would have kept him off.
Firstly he is 5yo give him a break
I think he could use a day of rest to fully recover when I am ill I still feel ill after for a day till I caught up on sleep.
He could have caught something else.
Or given half the kids in his class the virus.
