To be utterly fed up of other people's stupid diets?

As the title says - I'm sick of people telling me how they've lost 2 stone eating cereal for breakfast and lunch. They may look fantastic, but surely all the weight will go back on once they start eating normally again. And the cereal in question has the nutritional value of cardboard.

I also get fed up of people talking about giving up 'naughty' foods, and how they're eating Muller Light yogurts instead to be healthy. It makes me really angry when I see all of the diet products which are sold as healthy alternatives, and so many people believe the advertising and think they're being healthy by eating them.

I'm overweight myself, and have done crash diet after crash diet. Now, I'm losing weight by eating sensible portions of food which is mostly unprocessed and low in saturated fat. Also by doing lots of exercise. I may only be losing a pound a week, but at least I can stick to this way of eating for years to come and I'm not filling my body with crappy artificial sweeteners. And don't get me started on people telling me 'I've been really good today' because they've eaten a Go Ahead bar instead of a Dairy Milk. And then there's all the crash bikini diets in magazines at the moment . Sorry if this is ranty, but every other woman I know seems to be doing silly diets at the moment, even a friend with a phD in biology is on Slimfast.

Each to their own. Well said canella.

Some people struggle with eating sensibly, and may have massive issues with food, and sometimes, with these extreme diets, it helps taking "real food" out of the equation.

It's not strictly fair to say they will pile it all back on once they have lost the weight, maybe they wont, and maybe they have learned how to deal with their issues with food.

Luckily for you, you have found a way to lose weight that works for you. Just leave it at that, no one is forcing you to do a fad diet, so just go about your business.

I just wanted to say well done, flibbertigibbert for taking the sensible approach. It will be worth it and you will reap the rewards and be able to disillusion those that take "the fast route to weight loss" when they ask you how you did it.
