To be really cheesed off with my neighbours?

Today DS asked the girl next door if he could play with her in her garden. The two children from next door have spent the last two years playing with my children in our garden as we have a big trampoline and swing set. Any friends that they have had visiting have also come in to play.

Anyway, DS was told that my two are not allowed in their garden as DD pulled the enclosure on their new trampoline when she was wrestling with their DS (game) and their dad had to fix it.

Their DD broke our enclosure by hanging off it despite having been told repeatedly not to!

The other reason was that they had a friend over... the same girl who has played in our garden many times.

So... now they have their own trampoline, they have no need for my DCs.

I'm really cross... their DD also broke our playhouse by climbing through the window but I didn't ban her from the garden. My two are feeling sad because they want to play with their 'friends'.

Oh well, it teaches your child about petty behaviour if nothing else.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 02/06/2010 18:10

By the sounds of it, their new trampoline won't last very long so they will soon come begging.

Sn0wflake · 02/06/2010 18:12

God people are nasty shits to children... sigh.

shockers · 02/06/2010 19:14

They've been out on our trampoline and had a good time together . I'll get a paddling pool tomorrow if the weather holds. It just seemed so unfair but they've risen above it (unlike DH whoomething about springs and a wire cutter )

That's good.

Children can be spiteful sometimes.

Jasonthunderpants · 02/06/2010 20:06

sorry cheese caught my eye and I thought this was about cheese
I like cheese and am a big fan
sorry to waste your time
Is there a cheese thread on mumsnet?

shockers · 02/06/2010 20:51

There has been in the past... maybe you could start a new one.

How did the sheepskin rug thing pan out for you? I missed the ending

How nasty! Your poor DCs. Going to reciprocate your neighbour's 'niceness' with the paddling pool???!!!

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 02/06/2010 21:20

Don't forget the ice cream

Portofino · 02/06/2010 21:29

How horrid! Dd would be gutted if she wasn't allowed to go next door! If I win the Euromillions this week, I will send you the cash to buy the best, most exciting child related thing the size of your garden will allow. That'll piss'em off

cheekymonk · 02/06/2010 21:37

How shitty of your neighbours. Wonder if there are any other kids your dc can play with???

backtotalkaboutthis · 02/06/2010 21:42

Sods. And to reciprocate would be being mean to children not adults, so you are in a bind.

However, were I petty and childish (yes that is me actually) I would be buying the nicest, the best, the most exciting garden toys ever this summer. And having lots of children over to shriek and laugh noisily. And saying no a lot.

ps you should tell her, not just us, about her dd breaking your own trampoline.

wineismysaviour · 02/06/2010 22:25

Our neighbour shouts over the fence sometimes at our DC, but he is a sad lonely bitter git..

I want to move...can you tell?

neighbours suck.

shockers · 02/06/2010 22:53

We are moving very soon. We have bought a house which DH has been doing up for the last 6 months and it's in a fab little market town with loads of facilities for children.

I think I was so sad this afternoon because at the moment we live in a not so nice area where the children can't play out. Actually DD has learning difficulties so playing out is one of those things that we would like to defer as long as possible. Our neighbour's DS has AS so I felt there was understanding there.

Today, before the "You are not allowed in our garden" incident, I was feeling sad to be leaving because DD had friends next door. In our new house we have elderly neighbours on both sides.

Having said all that, our lovely (new house) neighbour to the left, makes cakes for my children. Our lovely neighbour to the right lets DD help water his plants and doesn't mind if she brings a book and reads to him while he potters in his garden.

I am definitely going to get the paddling pool tomorrow... DS will be at soccer school... DD and I are going to have some fun

Don't forget the sprinkler

I hope they have lots of fun.

shockers · 02/06/2010 23:13

Oooh yes... a sprinkler!

(That's just at the thought of running through a sprinkler... have forgotten about gits next door!)

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 02/06/2010 23:18

Sprinklers are so much fun!

Portofino · 03/06/2010 10:49

I want one! Will be hot this weekend. I feel a trip to the garden centre coming on......

shockers · 03/06/2010 20:48

Get there quickly... ours had sold out of paddling pools yesterday!

shockers · 03/06/2010 20:48

I sprayed her with the hose instead

Lovely. My DS played in a sprinkler for the first time a couple of weeks ago. 18mo and soaked from sun hat to nappy, laughing his little head off. Hope your DD had a great time.
