to be a bit irritated with nursery about this...

on Friday i went to pick DD1 up from nursery and couldn't find her cardigan, i asked one of the girls and another one overheard and said oh yes, walked straight to the loos, opened one of the cubicles and picked up DD's cardigan which was in a little scrunched up pile at the side of the loo.

i didn't say anything but was a bit annoyed as for her to walk straight to the loo and get it she must have known it was there and just left it and it was in a filthy state as a result.

am wishing i had said something at the time now and am considering mentioning it when i pick her up today.

Shock

but its too late to mention it - that would be petty.

surfinia · 01/06/2010 09:37

Just say, that you were not very happy that your dd cardigan had been left in the toilet when the staff knew it was there, as it is not the most hygeinic of places for it to be left. Not alot more you can say.

Or leave it and if something goes missing again then you can say, last time the staff picked it out of the toilets which is rather unhygeinic place to leave it if they knew it was there. Adding you do hope it is not in there this time. Point made.

gingernutlover · 01/06/2010 09:37

could it be that as you asked she remembered your dd taking it off in the toilets - and therefore realised straight away thats where it must be?

How old is your dd by the way?

swordinthestone · 01/06/2010 09:38

Agree that it's too late to mention now, but I would not have been very pleased to see my DC's clothes like that.

How old is your DD1? Is she old enough to understand that you don't put your clothes down by the side of the loo?

whoneedssleepanyway · 01/06/2010 09:38

i know that's what i think am just really annoyed i didn't say anything at the time but was a bit and just shoved it in the bag...need to grow a backbone...

the one who didnt pick it up is obviously a lazy girl, no excuse but thats life.

gingernutlover · 01/06/2010 09:39

yes, how old is your dd?

My dd is at day nursery and is 4.5 yrs. She is old enough to know not to do this. Also, it is not the staff's job to pick up her clothes off the floor.

But then maybe your dd is much younger?

whoneedssleepanyway · 01/06/2010 09:41

She 3.2, not sure how it ended up there the coats and cardigans are all hung outside the loos so not inconceivable that it could have fallen off the hook and somehow else found its way in there. wouldn't have thought DD would have chucked it down there as she can't stand mess.

gingernut - thought maybe that, or that she had seen in when she was in the loos with another little one and meant to go and pick it up and then got distracted so only remembered when i mentioned it, it is a girl i really like too.

i'll leave it this time but will say something if something similar happens again.

How old is your child?
Wouldn't have bothered me, it's only a Cardigan not like they left your dd lying in a heap beside the loo.
Usually don't have kids in good clothes for nursery anyway.

gingernutlover · 01/06/2010 09:45

or maybe she is obviously run off her feet slartybartfast?

Dont get me wrong, there have been some staff at dd's nursery that I felt werent bothered, but also others who are simply run off their feet and it's most likely that is the case really.

YANBU to be a little irritated OP, I think YWBU to actually complain.

whoneedssleepanyway · 01/06/2010 09:46

i don't put her in good clothes either and i agree it is a fairly minor thing but just seemed really sloppy and lazy

OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 01/06/2010 09:56

well even if she was run off her feet it is sloppy and lazy just to leave a cardigan on the toilet cubicle floor.

gingernutlover · 01/06/2010 10:02

yep - and is understandable to forget it momentarily too

gingernutlover · 01/06/2010 10:05

LOL

no, I don't work in a nursery but a very similar job and your comment got my goat! Now wondering if you are one of my classes parents!

Never mind, cardigan in the wash now I expect.

gingernutlover · 01/06/2010 10:06

I think a few of the parents where I work must think I am very sloppy and lazy btw

SlartyBartFast · 01/06/2010 10:07

yes - i think a lot of us are sort of feeling a bit guilty - been there, done that, in my very young youth

gingernutlover · 01/06/2010 10:08

and unfortunatly I am 30 so not really in my young youth

and another thought, perhaps they are trying to teach the children to pick up after themselves?
