Ohh, that's a nasty one. I hope she's OK now. The cyst would have weakened her bone.

rachaelsara · 31/05/2010 23:44

It was the ortho's casual, oh yes she's got a cyst, but it's fine I'm sure, probably nothing sinsiter you know ha ha! reaction that did my head in!

Orthopedic surgeons are a rare breed. Who knows what planet they come from.

rachaelsara · 31/05/2010 23:47

Still don't know for sure if she's OK. She fell of a pony, it jumped a jump, then turned left and she didn't.

I must get on to that in the morning as well. We moved in dec, she saw the ortho down there just before we left for what I hoped was a final check and to be discharged, but he reccomended getting it followed up. I took her to the G.P. about 8 weeks ago, but I've not heard anything, so I guess he forgot...

Pop and see the GP again. If her x-rays have been clear since her fall then she should be fine though, they just need to actually tell you she's been discharged.

My D'H met a scrub nurse randomly doing the parent watching daughter ride thing, and he said he wouldn't trust this orthopedic surgeon to sit on the toilet un-aided!

There's always that bubble thing in the middle. They didn't check anywhere else so I'm always mildly worried that there might be more cysts waiting to show up. But she still rides and swings from trees and stuff. I'd like to draw a line under it tho.

Orthopedic surgeons are like little boys playing with their mechano

A bone cyst is like a normal cyst, it's a bit of fluid in the bone. I'd pop back to the GP and ask for an appointment for her though, just to put your mind at ease. The bubble thing in the centre is probably just where the bone has healed, it's doesn't have the same density as the rest of her bone though, that's why it's a different colour.

I broke my arm/wrist in jan (the 2 long bones that go from wrist up forearm) falling on the ice. Did it on the saturday and went to walk in centre where it got a 'backslab' cast on it. Appt at Fracture Clinic was following Friday (cos it was very busy with the ice) Unfortunately had to go back on the sunday night and have backslab redone, as my arm swelled up and the cast was very uncomfortable.

Was told to keep arm elevated and wiggle fingers as much as poss. A LimbO cover was a godsend for showering too!
I was another one who was told i may have to have op to insert pins but luckily didn't have to.

Am still having regular physio

Hope your DD fixes quickly xx

Thanks, I used cling film when I gave her a bath today. We had to wash all the mud off her other injuries!

I will sleep now because she's lovely and settled.

Thank you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
