about what other people wear, really need to get a hobby.

I can't see how anyones choice of clothes/body mods affect anyone else? It doesn't cause harm, and doesn't mean it will be forced upon anyone else, what does it matter?

Kaloki, do you remember that girl Sophie and her boyfriend who...well, i guess if you know who im referring too you'll know what im talking about.
i too know people who have been followed and verbally abused for dressing 'alternatively'

Kaloki · 31/05/2010 17:27

Yeah I do Was down the pub with a load of goths when we heard. Awful awful awful

it should have been more publicised, more and more and more, to get across to people how to the core wrong it was its shocking that in this day and age there are still people who think attacking someone on the way they look is okay.

Kaloki · 31/05/2010 17:36

The worst part is how many people, on hearing about Sophie, had the reaction of "well, they did draw attention to themselves" WTF?!

FakePlasticTrees · 31/05/2010 17:42

I don't care as such, but I do make judgements about someone's personality by the way they present themselves to the world.

And the vast majority of adults are wearing clothes they've gone out and picked in the shops, when for a similar budget there will have been lots of other options. The choice you make says a lot about yourself.

Of course, i'm currently wearing an un-ironed shirt with baby sick on it and a pair of jeans that really are too tight (but then they were purchased pre DS).

BritFish · 31/05/2010 17:48

Kaloki, i know, its the same kind of people who say 'well she was dressed provocatively' to rape cases.
oh yeah, because the way you dress obviously triggers some kind of uncontrollable hormone in these monsters brain that makes extreme violence okay!!!!

Kaloki · 31/05/2010 17:55

Obviously. Had one friend years ago, a guy who liked wearing dresses and makeup (Eddie Izzard style rather than drag), when he got beaten up he got told that he should change the way he dressed.

That says a lot about the people who 'told' you that riven.
wow enjoy your power.

You see people do notice, and you are making some kind of statement whatever you wear. Even a non statement iyswim.

RunawayWife · 31/05/2010 19:17

Crocs and socks

shimmerysilverglitter · 31/05/2010 19:20

Oh I agree, I hardly notice what I put on myself let alone what others wear.

Comfort is my driving force when getting dressed in the morning tbh.

shimmerysilverglitter · 31/05/2010 19:21

I, myself am wearing navy blue crocs and lilac socks as I type .

I would like to dis own the 8 year old boy in my living room who has PJ bottoms from one set and a PJ top from another on......

mamas12 · 31/05/2010 19:41

Yes but you bought those clothes I take it and had some sort of an idea why you bought them.

eg practicalities, warmth, ease of wear.
also, colour, fit, feel good factor, peer pressure.

Everyone does it, I mean presents an image and it doesn't matter.
The image we have of ourselves and the image we present sometimes don't co relate (but that's another thread)

You are talking snobbery, prejudices and bigots.
I remember that sad sad story of the teenage couple where the girl died after they were attacked for looking different.
Those attackers could have picked on anyone they didn't like the look of that day, goths, asians anyone
It's bloody awful how intolerant and violent some people are isn't it.
