To go back to the hairdresser tomorrow and complain that my "coloured" hair has no colour in it?

Had hair cut and coloured on Saturday. Haven't had it done for a while and although the blonde highlights didn't look that noticeable, it seemed all right. Having looked at home there is about one small bit of blonde and that is it.

Will they say I should have said something at the time? They weren't open yesterday or today so tomorrow is the soonest I can say something. ideally I would like it done again but we are moving a week today and I am working from Wednesday until Sunday (great timing there ).

If they can't redo it, would they be likely to refund the cost of the colour. I don't really like paying £40+ for one tiny bit of colour, but don't want to have a confrontation.

Are they just going to laugh at me/tell me to go away?

I have used them before several times and always been happy with it. It is quite a natural look that I have but not quite as natural as it is now .

They won't be keeping my business anyway as we are moving so am wondering whether they will care anyway. But am at least going to have a go.

I used to work in a hairdressers when I was 16, and there was one stylist who was useless!!! Highlights weren't her strongest point! Often people would come back with the same complaint as yours, and my boss would re-do them, free of charge.
Did you have a different stylist this time? Because whats natural looking to one stylist is different to others, iyswim.
I would certainly go back, and ask them to pull some more strands through (im assuming you had cap, going by price you've said).
YANBU, I wouldn't pay all that for nothing.

It was foils - the thing was it was a different person from my regular stylist as I had to be squeezed in at short notice due to moving soon. My ordinary stylist did cut it and had said to the person who coloured it to make sure there wasn't too much colour - I think she took her a bit too literally.

I will try and be brave tomorrow morning (along with my entourage of DS and DD ).

You are all nice answering me by the way

noah you will have no problem getting them to redo it, i doubt very much you will get a refund though - they will offer to redo for you.

dont be shy about it but no need to be rude. walk in assertive, polite and from the perspective that of course it was an oversight on their part and of course they will be redoing it for you. If you think like that, it will come across in your tone. however even if you are a stammering blushing wreck they will still offer to to redo it if they are in any way a reputable salon.

Ronaldinhio · 31/05/2010 16:36

if it was foils noah you must have seen her do it and where she did it
are you saying that the product didn't "lift" your hair enough for it to be noticeable?

NoahAndTheWhale · 31/05/2010 16:47

It looked like it was done as it normally is but before I have had noticeable blonde. It is the same colour as I have used before so have no idea why I still have totally brown hair. I don't know what I am saying has happened but my hair doesn't look the way it does last time I had it done

I had my hair coloured recently and while I like it, I do wish the colour was more obvious.

NoahAndTheWhale · 31/05/2010 16:49

Will try not to be stammering wreck . Am unsure when it can get done though as have stupidly busy schedule from now until when we move (including being out of the house from about 6:30 am until at least 6pm from Wednesday until Sunday and moving on Monday) but I realise that isn't the hairdresser's fault.

At least I don't look awful, just feel I've paid something for nothing

Had the same problem as you a couple of weeks ago and i wasn't entirely happy with my hair colour. I waited a whole week before i went back cos i wasn't sure if I was being over picky.

Plucked up the courage and contacted them, explained the problem and they couldn't have been nicer. They sorted it for me that day free of charge.

I think they preferred to sort the matter out then lose custom as hairdressers rely a lot on word of mouth.

capstone · 31/05/2010 18:50

Maybe they didn't leave it in long enough. I would go back and ask what colours they used, and what they would have expected to happen to your natural colour.

NoahAndTheWhale · 31/05/2010 19:52

I am wondering what was different - it was the same colour as normal (I even have details of what it is as I asked as I am moving) and I think the same length of time.

I will be brave tomorrow . And will let you know what happens.

Went along there at 9 this morning - they agreed straight away that tfe colour was barely noticeable and I was re-coloured this afternoon. Now have hair jyst how I wanted it

They said it was put on a bit too lightly or something like that. Couldn't tell how it was different as it was put on but I am now happy again And am very glad I plucked up the courage to go.
