to think that actually it's quite HARD to lose 2lb a week!

According to foodfocus I USE 2051 calories a day to keep myself the weight I am and in order to lose 2 lb a week I have to consume 1051 calories every day.

Now I've managed it this week (actually I've managed to keep to the calories, I've no idea about the weight loss yet) by being completely scrupulous but I still think it's quite hard.

It is hard isn't it? I seriously take my hat off to anyone who manages that for months and months. How on earth do people manage to eat half the food they were eating before - that is some serious willpower.

Well done to all those who do.

Try this - detox diet

No alcohol
No wheat
No dairy (other than butter/live yogurt)
No processed food
No sugars
No caffine

But everything you want of everything else

ie: meat (other than pork), fish, fruit, veg, nuts, seeds and stacks of water

Hubby with this and two gym sessions a week has lost about 8 llbs in two weeks. Me, don't weigh myself but have moved down a notch on my belt.

Must admit starting to crave a chocolate bar!

am eating stacks of nuts and seeds

sorry didn't mean to be bitchy! If you have thyroid issues and PCOS it's going to be a lot harder Sorry.

Oh and muscle doesn't weigh more than fat - it just takes up less space as it's denser. You can make muscle denser by exercising it. You cannot increase muscle mass if you are on a diet - it's physically impossible, so you will be toning existing muscle if you exercise. which is good, as it burns more calories at rest when toned, but you cannot explain lack of weightloss by putting it down to increasing muscle

eric you are fab - i love advice!

I am full of knowledge when it comes to losing weight. Fact is I'm still a fattie I know how....but I can't get on and do it!

I find you can lose weight more easily on a low carb diet. I lost 12lbs in a month on the go lower diet. It was 3lb per week (although a lot of people lose more than this) and I think the calories are about 1500 or 1800 per day. I wasn't hungry at all and that's why I recommend it.

That said I did put on about 5lb after I finished the diet by having some serious blow outs!

Weight Loss Resources is a great website which i've used after 2 pregnancies.

No faddy diets here, just a lot of exercise (3 x weekly gym visits and a weekly 1/2 hour run when poss) and counting calories very seriously of no more than 1200 per day (but obviously there were "off" days ).
I really believe that "eat less, move more" is the only way to longterm success.

I lost 3 stone (2lbs a week) after No 1 baby and another 3 stone with 2nd baby but as i had to lose less babyweight with DC2 i now weigh what i did about 5 years ago.

however, i was fairly obsessive about it, but i needed to be to keep it up as was very determined to lose the weight once and for all and as there'll be no DC3 in this family i felt the need to just get on and "do it"!!!

I can seriously recommend slimming world - absolutely no starvation here! I was 4 1/2 stones overweight when I joined at the end of jan and i have lost 2 1/2 stones in 4 months. You can eat loads and never need to feel hungry , and you can have regular little treats too. I feel it has given me a framework for healthy eating for the rest of my life, so that hopefully once i get to my target weight I will keep it off - something I have never managed before when I have lost weight on very low calorie diets.
Slimming world actually encourages you to eat plenty of certain types of food as they say it encourages your metabolism to burn energy thus increasing your weight loss. It seems counter-intuitive to eat to to lose weight but it does seem to work! Obviously exercise is essential aswell. good luck with the weight loss!
