For two days I have been stuck on the settee unable to hold down water, banging migraine unable to stand for long because all my muscles were killing me.

Ds4 has not left my side, when he saw I was ill he went got his game boy turned the volume off and lay next to me. Every now and then turning to ask if he can get me anything like a drink some tissue or a bucket.

He is such a caring little boy the Christmas just before his third birthday I was pg and feeling ill thought I would sneak upstairs to lie down in the afternoon and leave him and dp playing with toys. Within 5 minutes he had spotted I was missing came upstairs and put the tv on and lay next to me even on Christmas day. He has been like this since he was about 6months if mum is ill he does not leave my side.

DD9months on the other hand has not even noticed I am unwell only screaming for me when hungry e.t.c. So is ds a particular wonderful caring child or is this normal behavior for little boys.

He sounds lovely! How old is he?

My DS can be like that although he will leave my side, he just checks on me often.

If I have a migraine he strokes my head!

Lovely boys!

overmydeadbody · 30/05/2010 16:49

Perfectly normal for a 9 month old baby not to noticwe it's mother is ill.

ThistleWhistle · 30/05/2010 16:50

YANBU he sounds lovely

slushy06 · 30/05/2010 16:51

Ds did even at 9months, he would nap twice as much if I was ill he is 4 now btw, Dd seems to have taken the op to pull my glasses of much more normal I am sure I used to take advantage of a ill parent

he sounds adorable - what a sweetie.

bit unreasonable that you expect your BABY daughter to notice your sickness though.

colditz · 30/05/2010 16:52

9 month old babies are not supposed to be meeting their mother's emotional needs. I would be a little worried that your son feels the need to do all this, it would make me think he is insecure about your health.

slushy06 · 30/05/2010 16:57

I don't know why he does it he just always has I am not ill a lot he does when he sees any lady ill if dp is ill dp is told he can't be ill because he is the daddy.

overmydeadbody · 30/05/2010 16:58

I'm with colditz.

Do you really expect your baby to be aware of your emotional needs?

slushy06 · 30/05/2010 16:59

I don't expect dd to notice I am ill, I was just using it to contrast I don't expect ds to notice I am ill I was never really caring for my mum even as a teenager.

Oh dear, where did he get that sexist attitude?

mumbar · 30/05/2010 17:04

he sounds lovely my DS 5 yrs doesn't even notice I'm asleep when he bursts into my room at 6.30am wanting breakfast and a drink

slushy06 · 30/05/2010 17:07

Oh normally he bursts right in first thing in the morning demanding breakfast.

I do wonder if ds uses it to gain extra game playing time. I don't really think you can accuse a 4 yo child of being sexist . There is no sexism in my house anyway.

Oh you lot are soooooo frustrating!!!! The OP was merely pointing out how sensitive her little boy is when she is feeling under the weather. She never said she expected it from either him or her daughter, just that it was lovely he is so caring!! FGS, you lot would find an issue with anything!!!
Slushy, how lovely that he cares about Mummy so much

lolapoppins · 30/05/2010 17:25

He sounds lovely, very caring.

My ds has always been a bit like that with me and dh when we are ill from when he was very little. He is 7 now and kept me in a good supply of dry toast and water when I was getting over a bug recently. (he did say to me 'pull yourself together now and get in the shower mummy you smell a bit' on the third day though).

slushy06 · 30/05/2010 17:28

ROFL at the get in the shower. Ds is very loving and loves a cwtch any time of day. Thanks cath I was thinking the same thing.

He sounds sweet

cath476 · 30/05/2010 18:09

We have just told our two noys that I am expecting dc3 and every morning my yougest (aged 4) says into my belly button "Good morning baby!" He also insisted we sing twinkle twinkle for our bedtime song the other night as "the baby wont like my big boy songs!" He is very loving and cuddly, DS1 is lovely too but likes to pick his moments for cuddles etc (bit too cool now he's 8!!)

cath476 · 30/05/2010 18:10

oops boys not noys

slushy06 · 30/05/2010 18:11

That is really sweet cath congratulations btw.

Slushy that is lovely.

DS has always been similar when I have a migraine, and somehow it is so heartwarming that it makes me feel a tiny bit better a I am writhing in pain.

Really sweet, nice of you to share.

oldandgreynow · 30/05/2010 19:11

Very sweet caring boy.But I would have to say to the question in the title taht YABU cos my DCs are the most wonderful and lovely in the world!!

slushy06 · 30/05/2010 19:16

oldandgreynow Does it help that sometimes I think he is the most mischievous and naughty boy in the world . Point taken I am sure I am bu and I am sure your dc are just as lovely .

I have been amazed since having dd by how two dc from the same parents can be so different and special in there own ways.

I was with you until "He has been like this since he was about 6months if mum is ill he does not leave my side". Thatll be because he was a baby and immobile.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 30/05/2010 19:21

Yes I agree with oldandgrey Your DS sounds lovely but YABU mine is obviously the most wonderful!

slushy06 · 30/05/2010 19:24

'Thatll be because he was a baby and immobile.' ds was crawling at 6months.
