to stick a snotty note through my neighbours door telling them to stop their dog barking incessantly?

The neighbour whose garden is opposite ours (over the road, can't see each other's houses but gardens run parallel, iyswim) have a newish dog. It's a collie of sorts and it's kept in the garden.

It barks ALL day and ALL evening from about 7am until 11pm. No one ever seems to go out there and do anything to stop it, in fact no one really seems to be in the house at all to even know it's doing it.

I have had enough now. I want to go and put a very arsey note through their door because they clearly don't care that it's doing it and are making no effort to train it.

Yes or no?

I'm very concerned about a neighbour's dogs. One is a boxer/staffy bitch, about 9 years old, the other a pure staffy male (entire), who they've only had a week and I would guess he's about 2 years old. On Tuesday evening they were hanging out of one of the downstairs window barking their heads off for over half an hour. I went across and pushed the window closed as I was worried they might jump out. Yesterday, we noticed that both dogs had escaped and were wandering near the main road. The house windows and doors were all open but no sign of anyone about. We managed to get our own dogs' leads on these two, and because we were unable to make the house secure we brought them back across to ours, having put a note through the neighbour's door. They were both very distressed but eventually calmed down with gentle stroking and soothing. . I sat on the floor in my utility room with them until my son came home, as I didn't want to introduce them to my own dogs and potentially cause even more distress to all. We were walking them outside our house when the neighbour's son came home and took them from us. I have said I'd like a chat with his dad over the weekend, but I'm really not sure how to handle it as I don't want to come across as being an interfering nosey neighbour, but I am particularly worried about the younger dog who I think needs more exercise and stimulation than these folks can provide (they are out all day most days, except for school holidays when the son is around, although I haven't seen him walking the dogs). The dogs were shut indoors again for a while this afternoon when the son went out and were up at the front window barking again. I have put a friendly note through the letterbox, asking if the dad could give me a quick call when he home this evening, but I think the dogs may well have chewed it up! Any suggestions?

Contact the Environmental Health department at your local council.

I'd say could you not resolve it amicably, but if you're at the stage of putting a snotty note through the door, I would just go straight to the council and complain about a noise nuisance.

Hey are you one of my neighbours I just started a thread on this on Monday. My neighbour next door leaves his dog out all bloody day it's still out there barking away now even though they are home. I started logging times on Monday after advice on here and am sending it to the council next week.
I have had enough it's soul destroying listening to it and watching them do nothing about it.

If you call the RSPCA, tell them you have the local news with cameras ready for action, and they'll be round before you know it. Otherwise, there crap.

Personally, I wouldn't talk to the owners - it would easily become a slanging match (or it would if I were there anyway )

Environmental health would probably be the most helpful under the circumstances.

Paulo, you're an MN-er after my own heart!

I wish there was a thumbs-up-thats-so-bloody-true emoticon.
