w@nk?

I went on there today out of curiosity.. and many many things disturbed me..

1/ The over use of the word 'hunny' Spelt like that too. Surely if you really MUST use it it would be HONEY?

2/ They have their pictures on there... most MNers would have to go on witness relocation if they had their pics on here (i know some do but not half as many)

3/ They put an inordinate amount odf 'xxxxs' after each post. Creepy.

4/ ... HOW MANY emoticons..?

5/ Its just not right, I wasn't in Kansas anymore, and I shant be going back.

well Eve, Im glad it helped you through a hard time...but wasnt aware that it had (of course) so I wasnt slagging in off is spite of the fact it helped you..

Im suprised by the reactions to this... I cant beleive from what I know of MNers that there are so many that use both boards... It seems totaly weird over there to me.

And LOL at whisperingbehind my hand in real life... this isnt real life !!!!!

I dont go about in real life asking strangers for advice, arguing with them in the street and telling them their partners are wankers either!

YABU

It is a great site.

Leave them alone

foureleven · 29/05/2010 20:45

oh but thanks for the responses, it seems I am indeed BU!

Which I dont think I have been up until this point in my life so thats something New.

i take it all on board.

woahthere · 29/05/2010 21:13

I think its brilliant for the noticeboards, advertising my childcare business and getting rid of unwanted stuff so I think yabu...I dont ever look at the coffee house chat or anything though. Bit weird for it to upset you so much that you would post on here about it!

foureleven · 29/05/2010 21:21

It didnt upset me, I thought it was humourous.. tongue in cheek lost on some I see..

Might toddle off to Netmums to see if they have sense of humour over there...

Toddles back..
They dont.

I go on NMs. It has its place.

Some NMs members would be eaten alive on here. They just wouldnt cope. In fact it happened to a total troll, she lasted ONE thread and that was hil ar re ous. But she is a nightmare so deserved it.

I have said it a hundred times but NMs is over run with passive agressive bullies who get away with murder.

But there are lots of very nice women on there too.

Lots and lots of racist threads which I enjoy pileing on to.

Standard of spelling is lower than on MNs (which obviously suits me).

The tickers are great! Having one was the only way I could remember how many weeks pg I was with DC5.

blueshoes · 29/05/2010 22:11

chegirl, when you say NM 'has its place', what exactly? Couldn't figure out from your last post what that place is.

chegirlmonkeybutt · 29/05/2010 22:25

Nothing snarky blue just as MNs and Bounty etc all have their place.

A lot of the posters on NMs dont like the style of MNs. They dont want to be put straight, they want hugs and xxx. And there is nothing wrong with that.

There are a lot of good things about NMs. I prefer the sharper style of MNs. But I have been a member of NMs for years and I go on there most days.

HerBeatitude · 29/05/2010 23:42

For those that like that sort of thing, that is the sort of thing they like.

ilovesprouts · 29/05/2010 23:48

i go on both !!

Pancakeflipper · 30/05/2010 00:01

Live and let live .... We can't all be on the same site, servers would explode.

Never looked at the forum. But have used NM to sell stuff and when I first moved to the place I now live and found myself with a baby and quite lonely I met a mummy friend through it.. Ok she turned out to be a controlling nutter with huge issues but it kept me entertained until I couldn't stand anymore.

IveStillGotIt · 30/05/2010 02:36

I go on both! Ive only had my laptop for a few months!!! How behind the times am I, lol, im only 28!!! Had to ask DS how to use it!!!
I find both sites have different 'good points', i.e NM's does come across as more 'friendly' but I cant stand all the huggy huggy hun shit, and the swear filters!!! BUT, at least the other users dont nit pick over spelling and grammar!!! And their young mums thread didnt go tits up like ours did, lol! Im wondering if it was the same person who started it? However, they dont have AIBU, so I think MN is better!!! But I can relate more to the NM crowd on certain subjects as their more my age group, but they are abit too nice for me, when I want a effing and ceeing rant, lol!
I can tell who probebly uses both, cause some of the NM's 'crew' apologize for spelling mistakes, which makes me think 'their on MN too' lol!
P.S I used DS'S dictionary to spell apologize, LOL, don't shoot me hun's!!!

IveStillGotIt · 30/05/2010 03:44

Just to clarify, It was not the same person who started the young mums thread! I've just went over to NM to check, and it doesn't sound like the same OP, however I did find it abit fishy, that both threads started within a day of each other!
Anyway Im off to bed cause i've just noticed the time, and i'm knackered!
Oh, BTW, I was just joking when I said 'hun's' at the end of my last post! Had too much to drink tonight!!!

KorkiiEffenkrakers · 30/05/2010 08:13

Netmums is very useful for local what's on listings. I also met a mum friend through it (who late ditched me after 3 meetings - the shame). The forums on here are way better however, so I would say that both sites are very useful and I daresay there are many people who use both.

ilovesprouts · 30/05/2010 09:20

i rarely post on nm just use for wanted/buy/sell .

Goblinchild · 30/05/2010 10:32

'oh but thanks for the responses, it seems I am indeed BU!

Which I dont think I have been up until this point in my life so thats something New.'

I doubt it, it's just the first time it's been said to you.
I'm one of the horses for courses brigade, NM doesn't suit me, but I'm pleased that it exists for others.
There are sections of this forum I find a waste of space, so I don't use them.

Lizcat · 30/05/2010 10:49

When I'm feeling fragile and needy I post of NMs and when I want a robust no holds barred response on MNs.
I never post about DD being in a Private school on NMs due to the derogatory comments you get. In that respect MNs is alot more live and let live. Though I do sometimes post replies on the education thread in areas where I have had experience.
Also in employment issues NMs all employers (I'm one) are seen as horrible nasty people who grind their staff into the ground. the advice on MNs is much more constructive and recently the advice on holidays for part time staff that flowery etc provided has worked to my staff's advantages.

foureleven · 30/05/2010 11:20

Haha goblinchild they have told me before... but theyve never had an arguement that I beleive backs them up. But the arguements on here are vary valid and so I concede that I am indeed BU.

fartblossom · 30/05/2010 11:22

The local stuff on NM is good. Ive made quite a few friends on the back of NM (with some help off facebook too). I also like the ability to quote on NM, which here its not so easy (unless I havent seen/found it yet).

But I do prefer the language used on here much easier to read. Also like the no nonsense attitude on here. If your being a shit you get told. There is no pussyfooting around.

CheekyPinkSox · 30/05/2010 18:03

Hmmm i use to be on netmums but dont like the fact they choose your name for you, i wanted something cool and i got Lisa P432 oooo very cool

I do like Emoticons so think MN should add some cool emotes to the forum like ones that tell people to 'fark off' or something

I also use the word 'hun' and do have to stop myself from using it on here, although i use to use it on M&B years ago, and it kinda stuck.

Lots of luv xxxxxxx

EveWasFramed10 · 30/05/2010 18:07

CheekyPinkSox...I LOVE your name...it makes me smile without fail, everytime I see it.

I like the no nonsense attitude here, as well...and that it's a 'basic' layout. But, I felt like I got to know people a bit better on NM...it was a little easier to be a newbie on the site than it is here.

But, I think both are good...maybe just not for everyone!

leavingonajetplane · 30/05/2010 18:24

The colours hurt my eyes.

Wish we had a quote button though.

capstone · 30/05/2010 18:41
