I took my daughter to c Peppa Pig play this afternoon and couldn't believe how pushy the people were there to get you to buy their overpriced crap. They were almost shoving things to my daughters face. All they are trying to do is to get parents to buy their stuff so the kids wouldn't throw tantrums...
It's ridiculous!

Greedy buggers - it's not enough they made all that money from the show.

Remember taking DC to see Spamalot and having the Killer Rabbit merchandise thrust at us. DD (16!)actually begged me to get this hideous soft toy, cost £10. I just said "no" and walked on. Killer rabbit purveyor actually chortled and said "I like your style" and then kept repeating to himself "No! Ha, ha, ha. No!" It was as if I was the first parent to have said the word in his earshot.

Course what I should have said is "I fart in your general direction" but am above that sort of low insult

I took my DS to see Bob the Builder last year. I had a look at the merchandise and was very at the price. I walked quickly away.

Its disgusting really but there were crowds of parents around the stalls so they know that people will buy it.

I have never found it a problem. Just don't look at it. If you never buy it, then DCs don't expect it.I don't buy the overpriced refreshments either.

Find out what time the show actually starts and go in about 5 minutes beforehand and go directly to your seats. Dont buy the overpriced crap merchandise.

hehe...I know most of the merchandise sellers on Spamalot (having done the same job for a good while on other West End shows for the same theatre group) and I can assure you they would have loved that response. Because most of the time they're dealing with hideous wealthy tourists letting their kids have everything they want, and it's pretty repulsive. Or, being yelled at because things are expensive. Like it's their fault.

However merchandise for those big tours (Peppa Pig/Bob The Builder) works quite differently and I think they are made to be quite aggressive, like you say. I never fancied doing that at all, it's no fun for anyone.
