to be a bit annoyed at the nursery over this

DS had his MMR a week and a half ago and at the weekend he came out in a rash which looks a bit like a measles rash. As it got worse by Sunday I (stupidly!) took him to the GP on Monday just to check and the GP said that it could be measles and just coincidence that he had the MMR (I have since read on mn that gps don't like to accept that rashes are reactions to the mmr - should have read mn first!!) so he had to report it, we have to wait for tests, keep him at home etc.

So anyway my kindly boss let me work at home yesterday/today but really need to go to the office tomorrow.

The infectious disease policy at DS' nursery says for measles (which I don't even think it is but anyway worst case scenario) they have to stay away from nursery until 4 days after the rash started and they feel well. DS is fine in himself, no temperature since last week etc and rash started on Saturday so I thought tomorrow will be the 5th day after the rash so no problem.

Well the nursery say oh no even though it doesn't say so in the policy actually we mean 4 working days not 4 days including weekends! I mean really are you more infectious because you happen to have the rash at the weekend?? They accept there is no logic to this but "it is the policy"

Am iabu to be annoyed at this stupidity?

btw if he really was ill/I thought he was infectious of course I wouldn't be wanting to send him but he is fine!

Good point about the bank hols! Presumably they are not being classed as working days either.

I'd be seriously demanding my money back for the extra days they are making you take off due to this working day thing. If it's not in their terms and conditions they can't make you pay for it.

In some ways I can see where the nursery is comming from and why they would insist on the working days rule, but only because your DS got the rash at the weekend.

I can inagine that some parents would say their DC became ill in the Saturday when in fact it was Monday, so that they could get back into nursery/work earlier.

Obviosly, if hey knew they were sick on Friday then they should count the weekend, but if they are not informed until Monday, they need to safeguard the other children.
