MIL (yep another one of those threads) has just dropped DD off and pulled out of her bag a set of keys to my house! She said she got them cut a year ago when we were on holiday and she popped round to feed the fish and wanted to make sure they worked as she will be watching DD soon for a day while I'm in hospital. She said it was best she tested them incase I forget to give her a set, we have already two spare sets in the house. I phoned DP who said he knew nothing about it. I was just too shocked to say anything just mumbled erm ok...... But the more I think about it the more angry I feel!!! She had got front AND back door ones too. Honestly is it just me? I'm very pregnant and obv hormonal but really?!!!!!!

I have calmed down a bit now. Yes it's the second time with the keys we moved in 5 and a half years ago. She has hinted a few times over the years that she should have a key incase she needed to pop in or we got locked out but we've always said there was no need. She's a nice person loves DD to bits etc but she does do things like this I think because DP is her only son and did honestly everything for him until he moved out aged 25. I suppose she finds it hard to let go. Thing is I'm very independant have always been my own person and I guess I find it hard to let others in. But it just felt that she's got them to try and keep a hold on something. DP is going to get them back off of her anyway and ifwe ever go on holiday again I will get one of those block fish feeders

I honestly thought it was just my MIL, when I was pregnant with DS1 we gave her a set of keys just in case I went into labour and DP was at work she could gain access! Anyway about 6 weeks after DS1 was born DP and I were sat in the house and we hear someone in the hall and what do you know it's MIL! She had used key to get in and said the reason she had let herself in was because we hadn't answered the doorbell (the battery had run out)! We could have been doing anything and surely if someone doesn't answer the door you don't just walk in even if you do have a key!!!!! DP told her it was out of order and now 2 years on it is always bought up by her saying we were out of order to say anything.... so tread carefully!!!
