Lazy, diisrespectful people have left them littered all over our local park.I am being very reasonable in thinking this is a disgrace, and what sort of person does this.So all please join in with me in a collective

Yup, they are chocolate starfishes of the highest order YANBU!

MisSalLaneous · 24/05/2010 22:07

I hate that, people did the same around here. Surely if you could carry them there you could carry them to the nearest bin when you're done?!

'Doing good honest council cleaners out of a job that is!'

No seriously this is the level of thought that you are dealing with. Frankly I'm surprised they've evolved enough to know about matches.

Twats! Let's hope they poisoned themselves on their charred half raw sausages.

Maybe they underestimated how long they take to cool down? Not an excuse, I know, but hard to know what to do with a hot tray if you have to leave all of a sudden...unless there's a tap in your park?

BigFatSepticToe · 25/05/2010 10:46

round here last year there was a whole spate of kids being seriously injured by these left buried on the beaches, people underestimating how long they take to cool down, thinking that like with a normal fire, the sand puts the flames out and not remembering that in fact in the case of a BBQ, all they are doing is keeping the heat in.

kids were jumping on what they thought was a pile of sand, and getting burned and cut

it is criminal - apart from anything else, they should not be littering fullstop!

The other annoying thing about this lazy, selfish behaviour is that if it keeps happening then it is only a matter of time before whichever authority is in charge of the park / beach etc decides they will have to ban BBQs because of the fire risk and/or litter.

Which is a real shame for responsible picknickers who always make sure they remove their debris. We have used these BBQs on beaches before and it really isn't so hard to cool them off. Just send a child to get a bucket of sea water and then douse them, they are soon cool enough to put in a bin bag to take home.
