and beg him not to destroy their creative curriculum?
It's seems a little overtly political. Or am I being unreasonable?
It's in a literacy class using persuasive language apparently. I think it's a little odd but maybe it's fine.

I see where the Barmy in Army comes from

DM anyone?

Let's get our facts straight before we go slagging off the teachers again shall we? A bit of research wouldn't go amiss here. Letter-writing is one of the formats of writing that children are asked to do throughout KS2, KS3 and KS4. It's a format.

If the writing to persuade had been a speech (which it is equally as likely to be, as speech is also one of the key formats for writing) would we be assuming the children were being marched down to Speaker's corner in Hyde park?

or that their writing of an article (another key format) would automatically be published in LeftyBastardTeaching News?

get used to it, people. At some point between the ages of 8 and 16, your child will definitely be asked to write something aimed at a formal audience that argues or persuades. And the teacher will probably choose the Headteacher, the Queen, Mr Cleggeron PM or Kofi Annan

Did you get out of bed the wrong side dear?

ds said "the best" will be posted, it also sounds as if she has suggested a fairly strident tone.

I totally agree with her sentiment personally but feel uncomfortable with a yr 4 teacher being overtly political for some reason. I don't mind anyone holding views, it's just I feel the children need their role model to appear to be fairly impartial.
