AIBU to hate the word "freak"

Local radio station this morning called people who can't see in 3D as "total freaks of nature" and if you could not see in 3D then you were "a freak". Yes it was tongue in cheek but I still found it vile.

The word Freak in a musical sense is completely different though - think 70's funk getting their freak on.

oh sh*t - I'm sorry - I used the word on a thread last night (twice I think) I 'm sorry I didn't think.

IMO being freaked out, or getting a freak on or any sort of funky dance move is OK, being called an actual "freak" because one has health/mental/social issues is not OK.

YANBU, but I got called a freak a lot at school and now have ishoos about the word.

Although not in the sense of 'being freaked out' or 'getting ones freak on'

can't stand being called a freak, even in jest.
