putting her cigarette out (really grinding it) on the trunk of a tree in the town centre.

I wanted to say something but am not really the confrontational type. Now I wish I had

This is a scene in Friends where Phoebe challenges someone for stubbing their fag out on a tree.

She was aghast in a tv show.

pedrothellama · 20/05/2010 13:51

I keep running down my garden and lamping the plum tree right between it's branches. Is this wrong?

Sorry OP

piratecat · 20/05/2010 13:51

well i thought you were going to say you'd seen an old lady in a terible state or upset or being mugged.

that's something that would make me 'aghast' tbh.

swanandduck · 20/05/2010 13:53

Sorry OP, I think it's just the word 'aghast' that's amusing people. I also thought you were going to describe some disgusting, anti-social action that would put me off my lunch.

OldMacEIEIO · 20/05/2010 13:53

I knew an old lady who swallowed a fly.

The jury is still out apparently as to the motive behind her behaviour

Cobwebsontheceiling · 20/05/2010 13:57

pud1 maybe she thought it was an ashtree

pud1 · 20/05/2010 14:00

cant believe i couldnt think of that one. gutted

Cobwebsontheceiling · 20/05/2010 14:01

Only thought of it when I read your post

mumofthreesweeties · 20/05/2010 14:03

Literally rolling on the floor at work @ Herbitea's post hahaha

Shaz10 · 20/05/2010 14:04

Are you Phoebe Buffay?

cupcakesandbunting · 20/05/2010 14:04

It sounds frightfully common and I would have done CBM at it because I am a raging snob. I wouldn't have been offended by it though.

Do hope the tree is OK though.

Tidey · 20/05/2010 14:05

Don't worry, she'll get her comeuppance. You'll see her in the Courts section of the local newspaper being done for menacing a hedge.

OldMacEIEIO · 20/05/2010 14:07

Just seen it on the beeb
she's been arrested by special branch

Hope she sees this thread and turns over a new leaf

cupcakesandbunting · 20/05/2010 14:09

OP seems a bit of a sap.

The old woman was obviously barking mad.

SlartyBartFast · 20/05/2010 14:10

did you catch her on your mobile?
you can tell the sun.. an exclusive on old ladies behaving badly in our broken britain

QSnondomicile · 20/05/2010 14:13

Did you think the tree might catch fire, and you would have the burning bush in your town centre, and it would become the centre of a pilgrimage?

now, that would push the house prices down, I bet.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 20/05/2010 14:15

puntastic

BritFish · 20/05/2010 14:20
