write the following in it;

"My darling wife,
I have many things to thank you for.
Thank you for agreeing that we should move out of our lovely flat because of our dire financial straits. I know you loved our flat and we were very happy there.
Thank you for paying the last two months rent for our flat on your credit card while our housing benefit application is being appealed.
Thank you for handing in our notice to our landlord and letting agent and managing to persuade them to let us move out in 3 weeks rather than 6.
Thank you for contacting all the utility companies and arranging a transfer of their services to our new house and changing our address with all of our banks, the student loans company, the doctor, the dentist etc.
Thank you for ensuring that all the items on our flat's inventory were in good condition and replacing anything that was missing or broken.
Thank you for acquiring boxes and packing up all of our belongings and arranging hire of a van and carpet cleaner.
Thank you for spending every spare minute in cleaning every inch of our old flat and our new house.
Thank you for not crying on the weekend of the move although it was very stressful. I know I had a face like a slapped arse the whole time and I understand that it must have been difficult for you to juggle our screaming 11 month old and clean the whole kitchen too.
Thank you for keeping calm and arranging another van hire when the first one went tits up and I was stomping about shouting.
Thank you for unpacking and arranging everything in the new house, again while looking after our baby. The bruises you have from moving furniture yourself only make you prettier.
Thank you for baking our old landlord a lovely lemon meringue pie. Yes, a bottle of wine would have been lovely but I feel your wonderful pie conveys the depth of our appreciation more.
Thank you for not kicking up a fuss when my sister invites herself to stay for a week after we have just moved in. I know the place is still in a bit of a mess but she really will not mind.
Thank you for all this and more. I love you madly. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

and give it to my DH to sign?

God, I'm not really this bitter, just feeling a bit knackered and unloved.

I'm sorry you have had an unhappy and frustrating time of it.

Have you had a chance to sit down and talk it through?

saslou · 18/05/2010 18:56

I think you really need to sit and have a talk with him. How would he take it if you showed him what you have written here? I'm sorry you are having a horrible time at the mo and wish you happiness in your new home

gdives · 18/05/2010 18:58

Ahh, thanks! I know IABU and a big old bitch to boot, I just needed a light-hearted rant. I do love him dearly. Believe me, he knows exactly how I feel, next time it will be a professional cleaning and removals company regardless of finances, no arguments from either of us!

not at all a very healthy way to communicate to him that you need to feel appreciated!! better that than having a screaming fit which is probably what I would have done by now!!

bluecheesefiend · 18/05/2010 19:20

I thought that was a brilliant way to put it - like you said, a light hearted way to get a good rant off your chest. Wish I was as eloquent as you - I'd have just had a fit and DH would have shut off and we'd both have sulked for a few days instead!

DetectivePotato · 18/05/2010 19:25

YANBU, a great way to convey what a great person you are and how extremely unhelpful your DH is. You should show him this!!

gdives · 18/05/2010 19:44

Thanks ladies, for your concern and comments. I'm feeling a bit more zen now having lanced the roiling pustule of resentment. The worst thing is, he broke my favourite vintage coffee table. I always knew he hated it.... I'm off to feed, bathe and bed my tiny encumbrance, it's very late.

BigFatSepticToe · 18/05/2010 19:47

HaHa thats a good one, I did not see the punchline coming

well done you, am sure Dh knows how lucky he is

shockers · 18/05/2010 19:55

I had a tear in my eye reading that... should have guessed a woman had penned it

mumbar · 18/05/2010 20:16

LOL brilliant way to vent. And actually I think you should do it.

Best of luck in your new home.
