To tell everyone that the cake is supposed to be like that...

Am due at a birthday party for an elderly relative and promised to bake a cake (it's a huge bash, lots of people bringing cakes). All of my in-laws are super at baking, and I'm not.

Have slaved away all morning so far and produced a chocolate sandwich cake. Just cooled it and tried to cut it in half and it's still all runny in the middle. No time to bake it again, so I just iced it.

I am planning on pretending that this is how it is supposed to be!

AIBU? Will I get found out? Should I just throw it away and apologise for not baking? Buying is not an option - they would Know. Baking again is also not an option.

I tried to make a clown cake for DSs first birthday. It was supposed to be chocolate baked in two bowls, stuck together to make a round ball.
Thought it looked a bit funny when I took it out of the bowls, and tasted the crumbs and realised I had missed out the suger

I went out and bought a plain iced sponge from tesco, decorated the chocolate cake to make the clown and sat it on the bought cake and decorated the rest of it with sweets. It looked really good in the end.

I slightly undercooked the brownies I made for my FIL's birthday party last Saturday. I told the guests that brownies were supposed to be ridiculously gooey in the middle. They were happy with that explanation - phew!
