That Nachos were the perfect cinema snack? Have you ever tried to sit through a film with someone crunching beside you?

This guy knew he was hacking me off because he tried to start eating them 'quietly' the cinema was full so I couldn't even move seats.

Why can't they have a non-eating section?

I'd say chips were OK, as long as they were served in a tub with no noisy paper to rustle. And no curry sauce, obv.

cupcakesandbunting · 13/05/2010 14:52

But what about if you are watching a quiet film, SPB? Like Atonement. That was very quiet and did not present much opportunity for wild, abandoned crunching of snacks.

If only I'd had a bag o' mash...

SoMuchToBits · 13/05/2010 14:52

Soggy chips, but not those ones with lots of little crispy bits....

StealthPolarBear · 13/05/2010 14:52

phew

pedrothellama · 13/05/2010 14:52

I wonder what they would chuck you out for eating? A haunch of venison? Would that be over the top?

Cake would also be a very good silent snack. Not cornflake cakes though, just good old sponge cake.

cupcakesandbunting · 13/05/2010 14:54

I'd like to take a tray of lasagne in with a big spoon. MMmmmmmmm.

skidoodly · 13/05/2010 14:54

a portion of chinese sizzling beef?

cupcakesandbunting · 13/05/2010 14:55

Get out, skidoodly.

DesertRat · 13/05/2010 14:57

The man eating nachos was eating them WRONG.

You are supposed to let them get soggy in the salsa and cheese, then there is no crunching.

Mmmmmmm cheap soggy nachos in fake cheese sauce.

Lionstar · 13/05/2010 14:58

I've always wondered why they don't make those Ella's pouches in grown up styles/flavours. Bag 'o Mash could be a pouch non?

Other flavours: chicken curry, spaghetti & meatballs, veggie lasagne (for the veggies ) ...

And I'd so go for an ice cream pouch or chocolate mousse

skidoodly · 13/05/2010 14:58

sizzling beef might get you chucked out, I mean

Although we might sell that in deciBowls, a competing chain of concessions I'm setting up with the people Abs was next to in Romeo + Juliet

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/05/2010 15:00

I am sure Duncan Bannatyne would say 'yer've lost me. Ahm oot' to this one, mash lover or no.

cupcakesandbunting · 13/05/2010 15:00

PMSL at DeciBowls.

You'll go bust within twelve months, I'll see to it personally.

ChunkyBrewster · 13/05/2010 15:01

I'm very sorry but with all this talk of silent snacking you have all missed the most important point. I am actually nobody has pointed it out so far on this thread.

FOOD EATEN IN THE DARK HAS NO CALORIES.

Which is why you must and I can't stress this enough people, MUST eat a family sized bag of doritos, a massive block of chocolate and an entire tub of ice cream.

It might make it a little noisy but it's for health reasons.

pedrothellama · 13/05/2010 15:02

Could we call the cinema Mishmash?

OP posts:
skidoodly · 13/05/2010 15:06

cupcake you say that now, but nobody can resist a slice of DeciBowl's signature Exploding Pie.

AbsOfCroissant · 13/05/2010 15:08

Cake is quiet. There's a cinema in Brixton which serves cake. They are GENIUSES.

Various types of pasta can be quiet, say gnocci or macaroni. But no al dente pasta, that might be a bit risky.

skidoodly · 13/05/2010 15:10

bowl o' polenta

wukter · 13/05/2010 15:10

Oooh no not pasta Abs, the sluuuuurp of soemone sucking saucy spaghetti... shudder

cupcakesandbunting · 13/05/2010 15:11

Well Skidoodly, Silent Snacks will undercut you by selling their famous layered cheese and mash pie in a bowl at 2 for 1. I don't think that you can compete, really.

AbsOfCroissant · 13/05/2010 15:11

No no no. No long pasta, for that reason. It would be too slurpy, as pointed out. I think things like macaroni and gnocchi, farfalle, those should be fine.

pedrothellama · 13/05/2010 15:17

Abs - you sound like you are taking this very seriously

I am getting worried and edging away....

OP posts:
AbsOfCroissant · 13/05/2010 15:21

I am indeed. It's a serious matter and I am bored

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/05/2010 15:22

Roaring at DeciBowls.

No with pasta you get that awful slurping.
