To leave my sleeping baby unattened while I go downstairs to collect a package from the concierge?

I need to collect a parcel from the concierge in my building. DS (2 months) is asleep. I really, really want to go and pick this item up tonight. It woud mean leaving the flat, walking down four flights of stairs - I wouldn't take the lift just in case - exiting the building and walking about 20 yards across a courtyard to the office. I would aim to do this at lightening speed.

What do you think?

go! 1, 2, 3,

take your mobile phone in case you meet a load of zombies and get held up

scoutliam · 12/05/2010 21:33

Yep pfb and god despite her being nearly seven months I'm still a bag of nerves

larrysgal · 12/05/2010 21:33

You need to be really careful with newborns in cots. I am thinking of situations like this one. You just never know.

alicet · 12/05/2010 21:33

Glad you are doing it. I would too.

let us know if the shoes live up to expectations!

randomimposter · 12/05/2010 21:33

OMG - is this for real?

I thought I was over-protective...

what ronshar said...

cyb · 12/05/2010 21:34

if you dont bloody do it in a minute i'm going to come over there and do it for you

PeedOffWithNits · 12/05/2010 21:34

I agree with agent zigzag

ddgm · 12/05/2010 21:35

Are you back yet????????????????????????????

AgentZigzag · 12/05/2010 21:36

You're all very lighthearted, as though the OP is asking 'Should I have the other packet of biscuits I bought this morning'. Hilarious I'm sure

SoLongAsItsHealthy · 12/05/2010 21:36

I'm back - and he's alive!!!!!!!

Why don't you have a shower now while baby is asleep? Have some bloomin self respect! The parcel can wait until ds is awake and you can take him with you.

cyb · 12/05/2010 21:37

how do you people that never leave your SLEEPING babies for one second LIVE?

Do you never answer the door, or the phone, are you on guard by the cot all day and all night

Do you sleep yourselves?

nappyzoneloveslindor · 12/05/2010 21:37

Its the exiting the building bit...., locking the door bit and leaving th baby bit i dont like - see im a worse case scenario person

pickledmonkey · 12/05/2010 21:37

that took seconds solong well done now relax

ginnny · 12/05/2010 21:37

I'm guessing that the baby is your first OP?
Since you typed OP has the baby woken up at all? You could have gone and got the parcel in the time its taken to read this thread.
Go for it (do remember to take your keys though!!)
Enjoy the new shoes.

bibbitybobbityhat · 12/05/2010 21:38

Right.

Get in the shower right now you stinker.

nappyzoneloveslindor · 12/05/2010 21:38

oh well that was quick i imagined som massive high rise like of the bill........ what was in the package then?

cyb · 12/05/2010 21:38

see? you did it! Now get in the car and drive to Ikea, they are open till 12

PeedOffWithNits · 12/05/2010 21:39

this is not just nipping out the door and down ONE flight of stairs, which is just like being in a normal house, its 4 flights then out of the building

thats like me going over the road to the neighbours for a couple of minutes - no way would I

this is not a random fear of baby snatchers etc, there are many what ifs?

.......the flat next door catches fire, or theere is a gas leak

IMO the new shoes can wait

joyfull · 12/05/2010 21:39

Glad it all worked out... But the big questions is - what's in the parcel?! x

joyfull · 12/05/2010 21:41

Sorry - I missed it - SHOES I am imagining them to be very wonderful, red, gorgeously impractical and shiny... Right?

ginnny · 12/05/2010 21:41

Show us the shoes then.
Was it all worth it?

pickledmonkey · 12/05/2010 21:41

i like the sound of the the courtyard, it sounds nice. and a concierge would be nice too

yes what is in the parcel!

bibbitybobbityhat · 12/05/2010 21:42

Stop chatting to the op - she needs to get washed!

TrillianAstra · 12/05/2010 21:42
