I mean, Daves given up some major policy issues and Nicks going to be deputy prime minister - its horsetrading surely?

According to the BBC the one thing the lib dems were absolutely desperate to avoid was another election - couldn't afford to fight it.

Anyway, the whole point of voting for the LDs surely is that they want this situation to come up every time - it is either this or first past the post so it is in their interests to make it work.

I've also heard that Labour were not prepared to negotiate on ID cards/ a lot of economic policies and would never have been able to deliver PR because most of their own party wouldn't stand for it. NC made the best deal he could and that is the point of what the LDs have been trying to achieve for the last 30 years. I voted for them and am very pleased with what they've done.
