Ok, I know I shouldn't give a damn what people think, but I'm the sort of person who wouldn't want to intentionally offend anyone!

I'm talking about situations like these:

I breastfed DD until she was 10 months, although did need formula top ups. I would often feed (either way) out and about, and have had both the "don't breastfeed in public its obscene!" and "bottle? Why aren't you breastfeeding your baby?" comments - can't please anyone it seems, and don't get me started on the whole "haven't you weaned her yet"/"you've weaned her already?!?" and "you shouldn't deny her everything"/"you're letting her eat WHAT!?!" conversations!

Clothing - I agree its a bit financially unwise to buy ooodles of designer clothes for babies, I dress DD in clothes from everywhere (Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Next, Debenhams, BHS etc etc) and have been in receipt of snooty "Outfit from Matalan? Oh, I only but X clothes for my child" and "Is that Junior J? Are you mad?" comments. I buy stuff on sale when its available for future seasons so I don't end up buying expensive things at full price, and adore the supermarket baby clothes!

Transport, I own a travel system ("The Chariot") and a Quinny Zap, and cant seem to please anyone on the bus, its either "Thats too big, you should get a smaller buggy for the bus" or "She looks so uncomfortable, isn't she too small for that?" (she is 1 ffs, just a bit small, and trust me, if she was even slightly uncomfortable we'd all know about it!)

I mean, sometimes I've received both sets of comments from the same people (on different occasions), how the heck is an unconfident first-timer supposed to know what she should be doing?

AAAARRRGGHHHH!!!! And.......breath, back to pizza.....

I complained in a Woolies car park (couple of years ago), when I saw some bloke park in a disabled space in a posh little sports car, and jump out nimbly (and I did check to see if he had a disabled badge!).

What was really annoying is I had MIL with me who IS disabled, and has a blue badge - but we were in my car, so had to park in a normal space and try and help her across the busy carpark (she walks on sticks due to severe arthritis and also has absolutely no road sense!).
So I, with the disabled woman, OBEYED the law, while some stupid twat ignored it, and took up a space which might have been needed by another blue badge carrying person!!

You're so right. I had this conversation with a friend yesterday. I have been called a whore for breastfeeding in public; she has been called lazy for bottle feeding. DS is on two solid meals a day, and as I have posted before, a "friend" equalled early weaning with child abuse.

Clothing, virtually everything DS has is second hand due to the amazing kindness and generosity shown to us. Every now and again someone will comment on what a lovely item he is wearing, and will ask where its from. When I reply its second hand, some, although admittedly not most, seem to react as if I've just stated it was knitted from the hairs of newborns; "Second hand? You don't know where its been!" and proceed to tell me that X, Y and Z have a sale on so I can buy him "nice new things". But on the occasion when I have put him in a new item (either has been a gift or I have raided George!!) I have had commentes along the lines off, "Such a shame that babies are put in new clothes... Must be so uncomfortable for them, and they only get mess on them anyway...".

Buggy - I have a three wheeler. I needed something sturdy and manoeuvrable because I am disabled. I also needed something cheap, and found this for £30 in he FridayAd I have had multiple complaints of people having to move out of the fold out seats (it takes up two, so no more than any other buggy, really), comments about the selfishness of mothers, and of course the good old, "In my day, mothers folded their buggies...". And of course, "He will grow up Autistic!" because the buggy doesn't face me. On the flip side, when I took DS out in his carrier, all I got was, "Are you sure he's safe in there?", "That can't be comfortable!" and my favourite, "Those things are so selfish, the mothers obviously have attachment problems..."

People think they have the right to comment on whatever you do. As soon as you become pregnant you become fair game for judgement. As long as you are happy with what you are doing, your DC is happy and healthy, everyone else can screw off. Either smile, nod, ignore or tell them "When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you". A recent favourite of mine

I can't believe people are so rude. Tell them to mind their own business.

Here's a song just for you

everybody ...... "well it's alright now, I learned my lesson well, you see you can't please everyone, so you have to please yourself"

I've had very few comments from people myself, but you do seem to be attracting lots of comments from idiots. Humm this song to yourself as you walk away from the big mouth overconcerned meddlers

You just need to perfect your Mind Your Own Fecking Business face. No one says this stuff to me.

I was in the supermarket once, with toddler walking and baby in the trolley. Toddler kept pulling things off the shelves, I told him not to do it, he ignored me, I said right, sit in the trolley then and picked him up. He started screaming and kicking his legs so that I couldn't get him in the trolley. A lady came up and I thought I was going to get a right telling off over my screaming toddler but she grabbed his legs and helped me get him in the trolley! I was so surprised and grateful. Some people can be nice after all.

I,ve been berated for not giving my forthcoming 10 year old a 'big' party- she's having 10 friends round- games/ food etc., one is staying over and coming to the zoo the following day. It's what my dd wanted... Take a deep breath, think fuck off and grin. Then tell yourself off for having the sheer audacity for making your own decisions!
