argh, I meant to put YANBU - oops, sorry!

ronx · 11/05/2010 13:09

Yanbu. My 2 year old still has a nap after lunch, so we never go to afternoon sessions. Most toddlers I know still sleep in the afternoon

ronx · 11/05/2010 13:12

I am pregnant now so if my ds is asleep then so an I. LOL

tryingtoleave · 11/05/2010 13:31

It is a stupid time - even toddlers who have given up their naps tend to be cranky and unsociable at that time.

Hope you find something better.

onepieceoflollipop · 11/05/2010 13:38

florence hope you manage to find something at a more suitable time.

Try your local NCT branch/local church or village hall.

Soft play isn't always horrible (although some are) that could be an option? Many of them do a cheaper morning session during term time where you may even get a coffee for yourself.

Your health visitor may have a list of local groups/activities.

Our library does singing sessions.

lovechoc · 11/05/2010 13:38

why do you feel you need to take her to a toddler group? If a scheduled group doesn't suit, do your own thing then if you think it interferes with naps. Swimming, or a trip to the park (which is free and you can go whenever you want to).

YABU to be making a fuss over this.

Firawla · 11/05/2010 14:02

do you only have 1-3 groups? round here theres a lot of either 1-3 or 10-12,so you can chose what suits. if its only 1 day & you want to go just adjust her schedule for that day making nap either earlier or later. i do this one day per week to go to 1-3 session, other days all 10-2 but he does cope okay with the 1-3 so its worth doing. even if not every week but go sometimes if you can? im sure there should be other times of sessions available too though maybe just stay & play not specifically toddler?

So sorry to hear that Florence....

and I agree, feel the very same about all toddler groups at this time , its silly

take care

MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 11/05/2010 15:50

Sorry Florence

Around here there are lots of groups at all different times and I used to be frustrated that most of them weren't in the afternoons when I was tearing my hair out in boredom!

Have you tried your local NCT branch - they may hold open houses.

warthog · 11/05/2010 18:33

so sorry to hear that florence

if i were you, i'd just let her sleep on the way there / back and not worry too much. it's only once a week right?

sorry i was a bit hard on you, i'm a bit tired of hearing about how wonderfully everybody else's kids sleep! mine don't seem to need much really. it gets very wearing. next time i won't be so hasty

singsinthebath · 11/05/2010 18:34

Florence - I'll probably get flamed for saying it - but netmums has very good local listings of activities in some areas. Also try your library where a lot of groups leave leaflets. Or your local NCT website might have a good list of activities. And finally, a lot of areas have free parenting magazines (e.g. Family Grapevine) which groups advertise in (mainly paid for activities though).
Good luck!
