YANBU. For a plus size section they should at least go for the usual 'plus size' model, even if she is only the size 14 cop out they usually stump up.

Advertising plus size clothes on a 'normal' model is just disgraceful. Why are they making clothes that have such a wide range of fitting anyway? Different body types suit different clothes - it is sheer unbridled cheapskatery onthe part of the fashion designers not to want to do anything other than the bit they all 'like'.

I'm not really a plus size myself (though I think I'm genetically headed that way looking at my grandparents), but I have similar issues because of my bust. Every shop you go into seems to only stock clothes made for people with beanpole/rake figures. I simply cannot conform to that figure, and I'm tired of having to go to specialist shops to get something which actually suits.

I do feel your ire. It must be something like (at least) 75% of women who are left out by clothes deisgners at the moment, since the catwalk-figure craze has swept the highstreet.

you know colditz - usuallly I would agree with you however as has been pointed out it is in the "plus size" section.........

Eglu · 11/05/2010 10:11

Would love to know how many bulldog clips are holding the back of that outfit so it fits her.

toccatanfudge · 11/05/2010 10:14

look at this example of how this top will look on a plus size

Lotkinsgonecurly · 11/05/2010 10:24

I love the expression ' large of nork'. But, I do think a slightly curvier model would be great to assist in how the clothes look.

Shaz10 · 11/05/2010 10:26

Maybe she's 12 feet tall.

AliGrylls · 11/05/2010 10:29

Colditz - I take your point about real women being thin too but if you think about the average women being a size 12/14 then clearly there are as few people who are going to be a size 6 as a size 20. IMO plus size models should resemble above the average, ie, above size 12.

YANBU

Hmm, I know a photoshopped pic when I see one. Look at the curve of her rib/waist on the right, then compare with the very smooth line on her left.

BigBadMummy - you are so right. I am sick to death of the lack of choice for the larger norked amongst us. Evans seem to think that us larger types want to wear garish artificial fabric with hideous patterns, with extra bling and bad-taste slogans. Oh, and don't get me started on the length of their tops - most come down to my knees! I wish I had some cash, I'd start a shop for us larger ladies that actually had clothes desgined to flatter, made from quality fabric. I am sure there is a mint to be made!

ImSoNotTelling · 11/05/2010 11:41

You think it has been photoshopped to make her look smaller?

On a plus size collection?

thederkinsdame · 11/05/2010 13:37

No, I think her bumps have been 'smoothed' -and her waist made smaller - have a look at the links and you'll see what I mean. Her waist is very out of proportion, too.

thederkinsdame · 11/05/2010 13:37

I'mSoNOt - all mag pics are photoshopped, to smooth out colours, skin blemishes etc.

ImSoNotTelling · 11/05/2010 16:17

Yes but you seemed to be saying they had made her smaller/thinner, which seems even more utterly random for a plus size collection IYSWIM

totalchunk · 13/05/2010 16:43

Yours Clothing have bigger models and they've just brought in Alison Hammond (from This Morning) on as a model too! I'm a larger lady and their models give me a much better idea of how i'll look in something and there are usually loads of reviews on the site so I get a heads up if something is cut a little bigger.

Lonnie · 13/05/2010 17:08

Im sorry but that actually made me snort with laughter when i saw it.. lol

NOOOO YANBU (but omg LOL what WERE they thinking?)

GrendelsMum · 13/05/2010 17:26

Well, I'm going to agree with everybody.

It is perfectly real and normal to be petite / thin / skinny, and actually those of us who are petite / thin / skinny have our own problems clothes shopping.

But to have that photo in the Plus sized section is absolutely ridiculous.
