I don't know why I do it. I've got a birthday party on Thursday and a wedding on Sunday, and this time people have insisted I go and take my ds. I'm already planning how to get out of it. What's wrong with me? Ds loves it. Dh has taken time off so is looking forward to it. I'm getting anxious just thinking about it. I just don't feel like I have the energy. Arghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I get thistoo- you are not alone. I get really anxious when I can't plan everything etc. However- I feel that the more I make myself go to things the more I end up enjoying myself.

Get yourself a really nice outfit, book a hair cut and reward yourself for going.

Mrs Vidic thanks for the motivation. I will try and plan it which should make things go a lot better. but know I will end up with spots on the day and someone will spill drink over my outfit and some kid will puke on my handbag (this has all happened to me at one party!! I kid you not). Can't help feeling so negative. I normally love the shopping and hair cuts, but as soon as someone says party! - I try and slide into a corner and hide. Looking for an excuse to get out of these two gatherings still......

you've got a bit of the self-fulfilling prophecy thing going on there, haven't you.
"I don't want to go to this function because I know something will go wrong" - it does because you are looking for it/ attracting negativity and bam! You are fulfilled.

Try assuming it might be fun, that you might actually have a good time - or better still, go with a smile because you want your DS and DH to have a good time.

Thanks thumbwitch. Hadn't looked at it that way.

Have you thought about seeing your gp?
